Sorta surprised no one has mentioned this. But, with the Laker mess and it involving the Hawks, no one really cares.
Any who, a sign and trade yesterday w/the Hawks and Pacers, w/only those two players traded. Ill try to get some more details later.

I like the trade for both squads. They ran the risk of Harrington being a malcontent since he was not going to get the chance to start and Jackson gives the Pacers another legit perimeter scorer who can be Reggie's eventual successor. Now Harrington gets the chance to start somewhere.
I think Harrington was somewhat expendable for the Pacers. They had a handful of young players (i.e. Bender) who they were tired of waiting on, and Jackson is a bit more polished than Harrington. My Hornets wanted Jackson, but now they'll have to settle for someone else like Morris Peterson.

Pretty good estimation Marc. I like this deal for the Hawks. I think Harrington has reached a point where he needs to start and be more involved to flourish. He kind of reached that point in Indiana, but was held back by how good the team was overall. Then again, there's the chance that he just peaked, and that's all he's got. I don't think so though. I'm not impressed with Jackson. With Miller aging though, and Artest expected to play more at the 3, a shooting guard was needed.
This trade has the potential to be a good trade for both parties. As a Pacer fan, I liked seeing how Harrington had matured his game, but there was absolutely no was he was going to start in the Pacers lineup. I can't believe starting would be that important though, since he was getting around 30 minutes a game anyway! The thing I like about Jackson is that he's willing to take a coming-off-the-bench role if needed and he knows how to win, after winning it all with SanAn. So far, I've been impressed with his interviews, mentioning that all he cares about is winning.

Starting is very important. Starters get paid the big bucks sixth men don't regardless of how many minutes they play.
