I just downloaded Full Tilt poker. It is a site that you can play poker for real money or fake money.

The ads for it are all over the place with Howard Lederer and Phil Ivey on them. Little did I think that these guys ever actualy played on the site.

The first nite of using it, Howard Lederer and Eric Sidel were at tables. Amazing to be able to chat and play with them from any where in world.

When I get $40, I am puting it on that site so that I can play them.

I took this picture tonite ...

Not to rain on your parade, but how do you know it's really them?

Because full tilt gives the "special people" special icons that no1 else can use. That is why Howard Lederer is the only one with the Howard Lederer icon.

That doesn't mean he's playing, though. It does mean that he's lended his name to it (or Full Tilt is about to get their asses sued), and is allowing Full Tilt workers, no doubt great poker players themselves, to play as him. I'd say they have some sort of partnership, or licensing agreement.

Why would he want to play with a bunch of internet schmoes? Why would they (Lederer, Ivey, etc) want to get TOGETHER to play a bunch of internet schmoes? The payouts would not be worth the while, especially since he is surely getting paid by Full Tilt anyway for use of his likeness? And isn't it a nice coincidence that they were all there when you logged on and looked around?

Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant would not decide to get together and play in the Pittsburgh YMCA league, and this is a similar situation.

I just don't want to see you defrauded out of $40 thinking you're getting something you're not. Be smart, with some healthy skepticism.

They are getting payed to promote the site, so they have to play there.

By playing there, they are making money!

Also not to ruin on your parade, but are you even legally allowed to play as a minor, especially when you start betting real money? Oh well, have fun with it, but I would be cautious with downloadable poker programs, they might come bundled with malicious spyware.

Not to ruin on your parade, MARC, but I have a firewall and tones of anti-spyware software.

Forget the poker... where is this parade people are talking about...?

Hahah, anyway it sounds fun if you're one of those poker junkies (glares at ellis).

That's great then! Most PC users, especially people your age, don't care about security and just gook up their system with all kinds of junk. Unfortunately, PCs require you to practically be a security expert, having to run all kinds of anti-spyware and anti-virus programs. Anyway, glad you're on top of things.

I'm lazy... I just know that every six months or so, my system is going to be slowed down by a bunch of crap, so I just reformat the whole thing. I just make sure that all my important stuff is backed up, so if the machine craps out, it's not a total loss. In the long run, it may take more time, but sometimes getting rid of spyware and crap seems like an unwinnable battle.
