Does anyone watch the WNBA?
I don't even know if it has TV contracts, but it's not on any of my stations, and I don't get many cable stations from the USA (all I get are the main CBS, PBS, ABC, FOX, and NBC networks... nothing like TNN or WB or anything like that...), so I don't even have the choice of watching it.
The closest I've come to watching the WNBA is the 2-ball competition at the NBA All-Star Skills Competition, and there's definitely some good skill in that league!!!
Opinions on the WNBA, anyone?????

No, I don't really watch it at all.
But, Lisa Leslie and Sheryl Swoopes are cool. :)

I haven't watched an entire professional basketball game (either NBA or WNBA) start to finish since the 1995 Rockets-Magic finals in 1995.

No I don't watch it. I consider it more of a joke than a league.

Why a joke? If anything, the league that's a joke is the XFL.

I don't see how its a joke. There are talented women athletes in the league, so lets not have women + sports = joke. :) After all, the worst WNBA player could still school both you and me. :)
The XFL is a joke. ;)

I recently heard that 100 or so XFL players will be in NFL training camps next year.

Well... going to training camp and making the team are two very different things. :)

Well I was just saying that at least some of them got noticed. I doubt many of them will make the team. I did hear one of the guys got signed though.

Well Indiana has a team now, the Fever so they are on TV quite a bit around here but I dont usually watch it. Sometimes if there is nothing on or a commercial break I might tune in for a lil Basketball in July (after NBA u start to miss it :) ) But I dont consider it a joke, its a great league for women. Not many of those around.

We have a team here called the Liberty. I haven't see any of one of their games since the first WNBA season. :D

You know the worst WNBA player would school you. Heck, even some of the WNBA coaches would school you. :D

I think it's a boring, non-entertaining league. It's no less of joke to me as the XFL is to you guys.
The ratings suck, even worse than the XFL's (and since that is a joke according to you guys, they I guess that makes the WNBA an even bigger joke).

Interesting...
The WNBA doesn't have an image crisis. The WNBA isn't trying to say "we're the tougher league" as opposed to NFL. They are trying to make this image like its a "real mans league." That is why it is a joke. Not ratings. I don't consider the AFL a joke, at least they are not making fools of themselves with all this for show garbage. Also lets not forget, the WNBA is a real league. Its not the XWNBA. It is the first and official professional women's baseketball league, the XFL is just a copy league.

I am probably one of the few that enjoy the WNBA. Even if I didn't, I wouldnt call it a joke.
I just recently started to watch the WNBA with the new Indiana Fever team. It brings in some local interest.
I've never been very interested in women's basketball of any kind, but I went to a pro women's game in Columbus, OH before it went bankrupt and all of its players went to the WNBA. The name of that old league slips my mind, though.

Unfortunately, the games have not been televised as much as the NBA, but each year more and more games wind up on TV. I usually don't get to go to games because of my work schedule. Since Les Alexander sees to it that EVERY Rockets game gets televised locally, I'm able to tape it and watch it after work. I never miss a Rockets game.
However, the WNBA Comets are different. So very few of the games get televised. But the ones I've seen have been great. I've been in the hospital for the last week and a half and I've seen three, count 'em, THREE Comets games in that time.
The way they play is a bit different, but most women aren't anywhere near as tall as the men and their bodies work differently. It's not less, it's just different. Most could play circles around others, male and female.
Thing thing that ticks me off is that they use college rules which sux and there are less than half the number of NBA games to their season.
You'll see that the teams only draw a crowd about three quarters of that of an NBA team, but their fans are louder and much more involved in the game than most NBA teams.
While the league has yet to turn a profit, it is growing and getting better. I expect it to continue to grow and to continue to have a following.
The next Comet's game is against the NY Liberty. Now THAT is going to be one heck of a game. :)
