View Full Version : Coach of the Year
Who should be the coach of the year?
Vote Here! (http://www.nfl.com/coachofyear/2000/index.html)
I voted for Andy Reid, now because of the McNabb for MVP thing, and voting for him, I am not an Eagles fan but, he has got a great system and he pulled togather a great team. They will make a Super Bowl run this year without, Duce, and next year with him, if they keep playing the way they are, I predict them as Super Bowl Champs, yes already predicting that. Andy came in signed Runyan, and put in a great offensive scheme to compliment their top ranked defense.

Same question was last week's fan poll at SC. My vote goes to Jim Haslett!
Heaslett is another strong canidate, but I think he knew they had to run the ball and he did it...Ricky ran the ball great for 1,000 yards, and then Morton came in, and Blake to Horn worked enough to get wins. Then Blake goes down and Brooks comes in and Brooks is 1-0 in one start. He hasn't faced a real defense yet. He did score twice on the Rams and a year ago he would be a GOD, but this year he is an untested back-up. It will be interesting to see how they finish. Maybe their defense will win them a ring.

Well, I am a Dolphin fan, but I have to name Wannstedt over any of those other guys? Well, first of all, Dan Marino retires, he finds a good enough QB, signs a RB that has suprised us all.
After the Jets came back to beat us in that heart breaking lost. He got the team back up and we are looking great.
Not to mention that almost every (I mean... like 9 out of 10) had a pegged for 4th or 5th place in the division, this has a lot to do with the job Wannstedt is doing.
I still can't believe Wannstedt is not even on the poll at the SC front page. :)
Where are you AJ, you should be here agreeing with me. :)
I disagree. Don't give me that "but we lost Dan Marino" talk. You had him in the playoffs last year and you got beat 63-7. Wannstedt has done a superb job, though.
Marino is what brought that team down, personally I didn't like the guy at all, but he did hold a ton of records, and Brett will tie one of them tonight.:) Dave has done a great job with coaching them, but he didn't bring them in. He knows how to use Lamar Smith and that is a huge part of the Dolphins offense. So give Wanny credit, but he hasn't deserved Coach of the Year with a team that was in the playoffs last year, regardless of how they exited the playoffs. Give it to Reid IMO, he took a team and got them to play, then lost his star RB and their season was over. Little did everyone know, it had just begun.

Dan Marino bringing the team down? Well... lucky your not saying that to my face or you'd be in some trouble.
Think about it, they never ran enough with him there, now they have a completely balanced attack, he held them up like Barry did the Lions but you need a balance to go somewhere.

The Jets' Al Groh has done a great job this year since Keyshawn was gone and Testaverde just came off after being out all of last year. I'm just metioning this because Groh went to the same high school that I am currently attending. Overall though, I'd have to say that Jim Haslett is the one.

If the Eagles and Saints both win their division - or both get a wild card - Jim Haslett should get Coach of the Year for the following reasons: 1) Haslett improved hs team by a wider margin, as the Saints were 3-13 last year, the Eagles 5-11; 2) The Saints did not have a first-round pick in last April's draft - the Eagles did - making Haslett's task more difficult than Reid's; 3) The Saints lost both their starting quarterback and top running back to injury, the Eagles only their top running back; and 4) If both teams do indeed win their divisions, the Saints had to beat out a better team (the defending Super Bowl champion Rams) to do it.
If the Eagles win their division and the Saints are only a wild card, or the Eagles are a wild card and the Saints don't make the playoffs, it should go to Andy Reid. And if the Giants run the table and go 12-4, Jim Fassel should come in for some consideration as well.
