Did I hear that right on FOX's Pre-game today Mike Strahan was fined one grand for being two minutes early to a team meeting? Is Coughlin serious with this? Strahan, of course, is planning on filing a grievance over this. I have to wonder how many grievances the Giants players file this season before they completely tune out Coughlin and roll over on the season. Could be a long year for Giants fans.

I heard it was 3...

That is ridiculous. Unless he was doing something illegal, I don't see how going to a meeting early is bad.

doublee, are you making this up? I have to seriously ask that, because this is the strangest sh&* I've heard in a long time.

No, swear to God I was sitting here watching the FOX's pregame and when they did the segement from the Linc the sideline guy said something about Strahan and two other players being fined for showing up at a meeting early. I wish I could find a link or something about it.

Buckeye, I heard the exact same thing. He's not making it up.

This is nothing more than Coughlin showing his d**k to his players, and he's the G-D boss and you better bow down to him, even YOU, hall of famer, well-liked Strahan.

Makes me sick. I hope the Giants start off 0-8 and the lil' emporer gets canned.

This story reminds me of the old joke about the three Russian prisoners in the gulag. One was there because he showed up late for work, so the Communists thought he was a malingerer. The second one was there because he showed up early, so the Communists thought he was a spy. The third one was there because he showed up right on time - proof that he must have owned an American-made watch! (In 1980, a variation of this joke added a fourth inmate - he was there because he was on the Soviet hockey team that won the silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid).

We'll the last couple of days people have posted about moronic officials and players so why not coaches?

Very strange indeed ....... If I was Strahan ...... I'd go to management and state that either Coughlin drops the routine or I want to go somewhere normal.

Okay, a read a bit of a clarification in USA Today. Strahan and three others were fined for not being early enough to a meeting. In other words they were there two or three minutes before the meeting was supposed to start, but the meeting had started without them. For example the meeting was set for 8:30 and Strahan showed up at like 8:27 only to find that the door was closed and the meeting already started. So, Coughlin is trying to tell him that he was late to the meeting when he actually was early according to the time that was posted. So they are being fined for not being early enough.

Either way, Coughlin is a mental midgit.

I agree with you there. I don't understand how you can fine the guy if he showed up by the posted time of the meeting. How is he supposed to know that Coughlin was going to start the meeting a few minutes early?

Agreed. What a total jerk and headcase this guy is. Who does he think he is, Mao Zedong? He's a frickin' football coach, and this is crazy.

I wonder why we're all so concerned about the horrible conditions of work that plague millionaire football players.

If they win for him, who gives a crap what he does, as long as he isn't killing anyone.

Of course, whether they win for him is a fair question. And if not for him, for whom? The least they could do is go win and prove that they can play. But that doesn't do it for this group of guys. I think the Giants have to clean house.
Starting with Strahan.

Actually. This is not new for Coughlin. Ever since he has been in the NFL, he expects his players to show up 5 minutes before every meeting. And they all know this. He wants his meetings started at exactly the time said. So if there is a 2:00 meeting. He expects everyone to be there at 1:55. They get that extra 5 mintues to settle in. I see no problem with it. Not sure why everyone gets on Coughlin's case. He's a hard ass so what. Parcells and Jimmy Johnson are hardasses as well. Yet no one is complaining about them.....probably because they've won a SB. I guarantee if Coughlin had a SB under his belt. No one would care.

But with the schedule the Giants have this year Mills College wouldn't start off 0-8!
