I don't see a thread on this, so how about Lennox Lewis losing the heavyweight title to Hasim Rahman (yes, who? I have no idea who this guy is) in a fight held in South Africa.
I heard Lewis was kind of overweight heading into the fight and he was filming a movie with George Clooney before heading to South Africa, so his mindset might not have been where it should have been.
Shows what you get when you don't take an underdog seriously. These things happen, but I don't think the boxing world will truly erupt until the inevitable matchup of Lewis vs. Tyson happens.
Couldn't resist this Tyson quote:
Mike Tyson to Razor Ruddock - "You're sweet. I'm going to make sure you kiss me good with those big lips. I'm going to make you my girlfriend."
By the way, SC's George Soules will have a brand new column on this fight Tuesday, so be sure to check the site for that.

Yeah I heard Lewis just arrived in the city where they had the fight just 12 days before the fight and Hasim Rahman was there for like a month.
Because Lewis was helping film a movie and the fight took place at a location that was 5000 feet above sea level so maybe his body hadn't had time yet to acclimate to his surroundings.

Anyway you put it, its still a big upset. I wish Lennox could have came out on top in this one. I was shocked when I read he had lost. Hopefully we can get a rematch sometime soon.
Read George Soules' brand new column on the fight: Calling The Shots, Edition #28 (http://www.sports-central.org/columns/calling_shots/editions/edition28.shtml), a good read.

The last time I watched boxing was at the 1996 Olympic Summer Games, but TSN is airing this match on Monday, so I think I will watch it.
Interesting fact... Lewis predicted a 5th round KO.
Rahman won in a 5th round KO.
