View Full Version : Arena Football
Just curious as to anyone watched Arena Football. I discovered the other night that Indianapolis has an expansion team, so I caught a game. Interesting. Anyone have any ideas?

Never watched it... Canada just got a team in the AFL, but it's in Toronto and I'm in Manitoba! :(
..plus they don't have any TV deals... LACROSSE gets a TV deal for BOTH Canadian Teams, but not arena ball???... that's wacko! :)
All I know is that it is played indoors (obviously), the fields are bigger, the fans sit right next to the action, and some good players like Kurt Warner came from there.

Actually, Marc, I don't think the fields are bigger than that of real football... I mean, they can't be any bigger than a hockey rink (200 feet by 75 or 100 or so feet, i think)... wait a minute.... that IS a lot bigger than a football field!! :D ....except the width of it... how wide is an NFL-sized f-ball field???... whatever it is, the width is probably smaller than what I am used to (CFL fan! :) ...Canadian f-ball field is wider AND longer than the NFL one, but only 110 feet long, not a hockey rink's 200 feet)

I've seen it. Not bad but it's funny to see people I've never heard of before on TV playing pro football.
Actually, the field is smaller than in the NFL. It is only 50 yards long, not 100. Also, there is no out of bounds, the crowd is right there with you.
My fault, the fields are SMALLER, sorry.

...the thing I like about it is the body checking over the boards :)
...reminds me of hockey! :D

Ya, I love the checking and the fact that (somewhat like the CFL) you can play missed kicks...I believe...off the nets (sorta like a missed FG in the endzone.

How football should be played. I think it's an easier game to understand. Hit the guys everywhere, no running out of bounds, and whenever the ball is in the air, try to catch it.

I saw one game last year...i don't remember who played, but it seemed that they would score very often. What are the scores in a game usually???

One thing the AFL doesn't have is defense. Scores are like 41-38 at the lowest.

Right, Marc...
...yesterday's Toronto game was 65-48 (not for Toronto :( )
...I don't mind that, though... I love offensive football! :)

Offensive football rocks. My high school's team sometimes has scores like 3-0 and 10-3. Very boring.

My high school team during the regular season won every game like 50-3 or so...they ended up winning the state championship.

My high school team is usually good but our top two quarterbacks were out and our third string QB had to take over. We got 2nd place I think.
