Everyone, it's finally the Derby Weekend and I'm ready to watch the great tradition and excellence this event brings from the historic Churchhill Downs in Louisville, my hometown. Here's more: http://espn.go.com/horse/triplecrown01/index.html

Will any of you be watching? The race isn't very long at all, so I don't mind watching... sometimes, my family does a little drawing where we put all the horses names in a hat and we each get a few horses... if your horse wins, you get a little money.

Ya I might watch, but I doubt I'll be home. I like watching further down the line especially if the Triple Crown is a possibility for a horse in the 3rd race or something. A little more exciting then.

I hate horse racing and equestrian.

I mean, the horse does all the work!!! :) ... okay, the rider has a little to do with it, but still...

It's SO big in Lousiville... everyone has parties and there is a pie called "Derby Pie" we make, it's great. :) I'll be watching, although I admittingly don't follow horse racing much.

My aunt and uncle used to have a huge party for this. Tons of relatives and friends would come to their big house in New Jersey and we'd have tv's outside and roast all sorts of good food but now they're divorced so that tradition ended.

I won't be watching.

Well, Monarchos won: http://espn.go.com/horse/triplecrown01/s/finley/derby.html

Many lost faith in Monarchos after a loss to Congaree in the Wood Memorial. But jockey Jorge Chavez changed all that, pulling away from Congaree in the final stretch to win the 127th running of the Kentucky Derby. The finish in 1:59 4/5 over the 1¼ miles was just two-fifths off the Churchill Downs record set by Secretariat in 1973. A foul claim was filed against Chavez by jockey John Velazquez, riding Invisible Ink, but it was disallowed. Favorite Point Given, never a threat, finished fifth.
He wasn't the favorite, Point Given was (I love that name!), and it was a negative with the jockey, Jorge Chavez, who couldn't speak English well - plus, the dumb NBC reporters kept pronouncing his name "George".

Sorry, poor wording. I meant it was unfortunate we could barely understand what he was saying, he, being the Derby winner and all.
