View Full Version : Anyone see USA beat Guatemala?
It was on tonight on ESPN2. Good game. USA 2, Argentina 0 in a World Cup Qualifier.
I have to tell you, i've really started to get into soccer. (Well, it should actually be football everywhere...) I'm still learning about the game, but I'm really enjoying watching. I also picked up the FIFA 2005 game for my PS2 and am loving that as well.
If you guys have any tips on what and when there are good games to watch, be sure to let me know. :)

As for myself soccer games get boring quick. However, I do watch the mens qualifiers and of course the World Cup if the US is playing.

Ironically (plug plug), I write an article for the front page tomorrow talking about how I FEEL THE SAME FEELING NATE AND TARKUS ARE FEELING! I am diving into this WC qualifying stuff headlong. I should point out that it was Guatemala the US beat tonight, not Argentina.

Guatemala, Argentina. Third-best team in Central America, or perennial world power. Same difference, right?
Eh. I knew it was Central American somewhere! :D Sorry, I guess in the hour after watching, the country escaped me. I changed the thread title to suit.

Eddie Johnson is going to be a star. I think the US National team has a legit star forward now with Johnson to go with a fairly well developed defense (veteran presence with Eddie Pope and a couple young defenders that could be first team for their Premiership clubs next season in Zak Whitbread and Johnathon Spector) and midfield that has a TON of potential with Landon Donovan, Bobby Convey and DaMarcus Beasley.
If the US National Team can effectively blend South American soccer with European soccer...well, that could be fun as hell to watch.
USA certaintly doesn't have the depth of other countries, just yet, but the National Team should expect another Top 8 at the World Cup next year...hell...they should expect the semi-finals.
MLS has a shot with this steroids thing in MLB. Donovan coming back home is big. Eddie Johnson should get some attention. I wonder what Freddy Adu is capable of at this point...

Bruce Arena is giving all players that have sucess in the MLS a shot. Eddie Johnson wasn't thier in the game agasint Mexico. Josh Wolff is back and I don't know where Clint Mathis has been. I don't like the fact that the USA is trying to pickup the high tempo brazian style. Its being taught in the youth leagues all over the country.
