Who should i vote for as starting NL SS in the All Star game?
Whoever wins this vote is who i'll put a vote in for every day on mlb.com (even if it's a write-in). I encourage y'all to join me-- Nomar shouldn't be winning this!
(edit: Don't vote for Counsell-- he's listed at his actual position, 2B not SS-- moderator, please eliminate him from the list)

I've been voting for David Eckstein. He's excelling despite playing for a whole new team. His batting average is .307 and his slugging percentage is .392, both of which are currently career-bests. He has 171 assists, at which pace he is on track to set a new career mark in that category. His fielding percentage is .967.
Barmes had a hot start but has cooled off as of late. There really isn't one overwhelming choice here so my vote goes to Eckstein as well. He has had a good season as a table setter for the Cardinals and is solid in the field. However, cases could be made for any of the guys on the list.

You left a guy off who probably deserves some consideration here: Nomah's replacement Neifi Perez. He is hitting .325 with 7 homers and 26 RBIs and has, for the most part, made Cubs fans forget about when Nomar is coming back.
Barmes may have tailed off a bit, but he still has the best overall numbers. He either leads or is tied with NL shortstops in hitting, HRs, RBIs, and runs. Only Felipe Lopez has as many home runs and a higher slugging percentage and only Izturis has more basehits amongst shortstops.

Scratch that Barmes is a wasted vote now that he broke his collarbone after taking a spill while carrying groceries up a flight of stairs in his apartment building.

I heard that about Barmes earlier today. Man, what an awful way to get injured. The current prognosis says he'll miss three months.

Clint Barmes is leading in RBI and avg and would get my vote- however he just went down w/ a collarbone injury. id give my vote to César Izturis, J-Roll (Jimmy Rollins), or David Eckstein (.387 ops!)
I have Izturis on my fantasy team and he's been a pleasant surprise. He's been remarkably consistent and scores a lot of runs. I'd give him my vote.

Looks like I'm going with Eckstein!
Call to action. I encourage everyone to join me-- vote for Eckstein multiple times as the NL SS at mlb.com to keep the undeserving Nomar out of the game. Thank you!

Felipe Lopez deserves it. Where is he in the voting?
