Will consistancy keep Hingis at #1?

Hingis is still #1 in the world even though she has not done great this year. The only thing keeping her there is her consistancy to get deep into the tournaments before she gets eliminated. Anyone think her consistancy to do just that will keep her at number 1? I think we will see a new number one very soon!

I do think Hingis belongs amoung the top, but she has definetly not been the top player this year! If the WTA had a players race like the ATP does she woul dnot be ranked #1 in that respect!

Who do you think belongs at the top if she doesn't? Davenport? The Williams sisters? I think Hingis is undoubtedly the best player because she is most consistent - thus, she deserves the rank.

Venus does have the chance to take over the ranking @ the French I believe... Even though I don't think Mauresmo is #1 material, she has won 4 tournaments and 5 finals this year so far. What has Hingis done?
