Villanova's Matthews Transferring
VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — Villanova forward Aaron Matthews, suspended indefinitely in February for an unspecified violation, is transferring to another school.
``Aaron has made a decision to leave us and we respect that,'' coach Jay Wright said Friday. ``We thank him for the contributions he has made to this basketball team and wish him the best in his future endeavors.''
It was not immediately clear where Matthews would be going to school. A call to Villanova officials was not immediately returned Friday.
Matthews, a 6-foot-6 sophomore from Seaford, Del., started 21 games for the Wildcats this season and averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds.
He was suspended indefinitely Feb. 28 for what the school called ``a violation of team rules'' and did not play the last five games of the season.
