View Full Version : Who Will Match Bill Troup's Dubious Feat?

There were three shutouts in Week 1, the largest number on opening day since 1977 - the year before Bill Troup became the last quarterback to lead an NFL team to shutout losses in both of its first two games of a season.
Which one (or more/if any) out of Chris Simms, Brett Favre (and/)or Aaron Brooks will become the first since Troup to do it (by getting shut out again in Week 2)?
Multiple responses are permitted unless the last poll option is chosen.

I almost voted for Simms, but I think Brooks is more likely to lead the Raiders to another goose egg. Even though the Bucs are playing in Atlanta this week, I think they will play a much better game and won't get shut out.

I think Aaron Brooks is the winner or loser I should say.

I have no doubts that Brett Favre and the Packers will score at home against New Orleans. I believe Tampa Bay will be able to rack up something against Atlanta.
I agree with everyone that Aaron Brooks and Oakland are the most likely of the candidates listed to get shut-out again, especially having to face Baltimore on the road this weekend.
But I am going to go with history, and choose neither of the three to get shut-out.
EDITED: I wanted to ask "The Trivia Guru" Anthony, since I am too lazy myself to go look it up, when was the last time that a team was able to shut-out their first two opponents to open up a season? I think Baltimore and Chicago both have a good shot at accomplishing this feat.

Brooks and the raiders will probablly not score again.

If Brooks does start and the Raiders get shut out again, he should be benched for their next game, at home against Cleveland October 1st (Oakland has a bye in Week 3).
And the Raiders are the last team to be shut out three times in a row - that happened in 1981.

What's the story on back up QB for Oakland Andrew Walter out of Arizona St? Any good? He's a big guy at 6ft-6.

Well I've just "voted" - see my picks in the NFL Pointspread Contest thread.
And they were going on over at NFL Network about how the Ravens defense might begin the season with three shutouts (Baltimore plays at Cleveland next week).
