Where Did This Garrett Atkins Kid Come From?

I just noticed him today after looking at the boxscores from last night. He's having quite a season.

He's the 3rd baseman for the Colorado Rockies. He's lead the team with a .321average and has hit 25 homeruns with 110 RBI's on the year. His OBP is .399. He also leads the team in RBI's.

This kid has good size at 6-3 215. He's 26 years old.

I just haven't paid much attention to the Rockies this season.

In last night's 20-8 win against SF Atkins went 4 for 5 with 6 RBI's.

I had heard of him, but no one in the media it seems has said too much about him this season - .321 with 25HR & 110 RBI? Those are noteworthy numbers in my book, but I guess since he is playing on a mediocre team he hasn't got much recognition......

He is out of UCLA.:thumbup: With young guys like Atkins the Rockies could be a real threat in a couple years. I think they still need pitching though.

They've always needed good pitching, but then again even a good pitcher has a hard time at Coors field.

With the balls being kept in a humidor at Coors Field, run production is down. It has become a pitching neutral park. Good pitchers may want to pitch there if they see good, young talent coming along.

Half the Rockies' lineup was hitting .300 at one time... they've got a lot of good young talent there

This kid hit two more homeruns last night against SF. Now has 27 on the year and 114 RBI's I believe. He went four for five last night driving in four runs and scoring three times. Wow. What a series he has had against SF.
