Not sure if it is good news are not. I have a feeling he is going to have some arm troubles soon. Just a feeling.

Probably not more than one more season. This season wasn't bad for him, but you can definitely see that he is not far from retirement. Next year he will be a much needed veteran presence in the Braves clubhouse. Maybe he can end his career with over 200 wins......

He has 190 career wins. He might end up with 192 this season.

Yeah, but I was talking about the # of wins he could have after next year - I'm hoping he can get at least 10 wins to pass 200 for his career......

If the Braves had a closer early in the season Smoltzie could easily be at 20 wins this year they blew 8 or 9 saves in his games, with Wickman and Smoltz signed for next year it is a good start, but they have to sign Andruw or somebody big to replace him don't be surprised if Sheffield is back in Atlanta next year.

I'm wondering how soon the trade rumors will start up when it comes to Smoltz. I'd like to see him end his career in ATL, but I'll bet he'll take the cash if the offer is there to go elsewhere. Hell, he almost left for the Tigers this season.

Meh, seeing as they extended Wickman for a year I don't see them seriously entertaining the idea of trading him if and when they fall out of contention next season. Heck, if Wickman had been in ATL all season the Braves would probably still be in the thick of the wild card race.
