Looks like it is going to be the Phillies vs the Twins!

I'll take it!

Me too. Guaranteed win for the Twins (just kidding, Doug).
That would be an interesting matchup. Both teams have some good young pitchers and hitters.

I'll still take it!

I think the Dodgers will go... any team that can hit 4 solo homeruns in the 9th to stay alive has to have confidence like no other!

Well, it is a bit early to call, but the Twins have started selling playoff tickets already and they will sell out. They might even remove the upper curtain for more capacity (giving an extra 7500+ seats).

I'm going to go with the Tigers winning the AL. I don't think the Twinkies can catch them to win the division and they'll lose to the Yanks as the wild card.
With home field advantage in the first round belonging to the Tigers I doubt the Athletics will pose a big threat to them. With the Tigers at 94-62 and the Yankees at 93-62 right now, it'll be a shoot out this week to see who wins homefield advantage for the second round. My money's on the Tigers though, and I believe that with homefield advantage against the Yankees, they'll take the AL.
The NL is much easier for me to predict. Mets, baby Mets!

Sorry Pirate its going to be the NY Mets against the NY Yankees with the Yankees winning it all.

Pedro martinez is going to miss the first round of the playoffs. Not good for the Mets.

Without Pedro at his best, the Mets will have a tough time winning the first round of the playoffs. They have been hammered recently and they are not playing well.

Phillies Vs. Twins is actually realistic as they are the two hottest teams right now and recent history has shown that the hot team will more than likely win in the postseason.

Houston is pretty hot. I hope they can catch the Cardinals.:D

I would fear the Astros if they can make it to the post-season. They have won 9 straight and have been hitting, pitching and fielding flawlessly recently.
Wouldn't it be nice to see the Rocket pitch in the Series again?

1/2 game back from the cardinals right now! I hope they can get in, not many people will want to face Oswalt, Clemens, and Pettitte in the playoffs..

I might have to amend my previous prediction of the Mets reaching the WS. Without Pedro and his big-game experience, the Mets' pitching rotation looks just average. But they are way above average on their offense, so we shall see........

Seriously this time......Looks to everyone's surprise that the Dodgers and Padres might be playing the best, healthiest, and might be the favorites to come out of the NL now.
Surprising what a month will do to change everyone's perception of each league. Should be interesting to see what the vegas odds are on Mondayfor both leagues.

I agree with that. Either one could be the WS contestant for the NL. I expect them both to win their ALDS series.

I agree with the poster above me who said the Astros are the team to fear. A)They have done this before, like last year and the year before, and B)they ride their hot streaks for a VERY long time and this one has only been going on for about a month or so.

And with Pedro being out for the postseason the Mets are screwed.

The Astros need a lot of help if they want to stay in the race. They cannot lose and must hope the Cardinals lose twice. They are likely the best team not to make the playoffs this season.

Think the Dodgers are going to be a surprise throughout the playoffs

I guess I have to root for the one team in the playoffs that has never won it all.

They'll be usable for trips around NYC in January. Neither New York team will be in the series this year. The Twins will take the Yankees out and the Mets won't get past the Dodgers.

Not so fast my friend! If El Duque is out for this series the Mets are going to be hard pressed to win if they have to rely on guys like Trachsel, Perez, and John Maine to win tight postseason games for them.

The Twins will take the Yankees out
Not if they can't get through the first round they won't. They can't lose games at home with their best pitcher on the mound. Not a very good start as the Twins lose their opener.....

To be honest, I'd say the A's are the team the Yanks don't want to see in the next round. The A's took 6 of 9 from the Yanks this year taking four of six at the Bronx including a three game sweep.

The Twins did not play badly today. Barry Zito showed why he won a Cy Young award. He is not a bad pitcher, nor are Harden, Haren and Blanton.
