Not surprised by this - right now he is only 22 HR from breaking the record. Will the Giants sign him to a one-year deal?

I bet some AL team will pick him up.

I think he will get a negative response from any other team besides the Giants, so I can see them re-signing him to a 1-year deal.

I have to disagree. There will be numerous AL teams that'll be delighted to have his bat in their lineup. The first to come to mind would be the Angels since Bonds has a home near Anaheim.

What I meant to say was negative response from the fans of any other team. It seems like the only people who really like him these days are Giants fans.

Jay's right. Nobody likes the guy accept Giants fans - although even some of them don't care for him either. I'm just glad the BoSox already have a DH + Bonds hates Boston so I hopefully I dont have to worry about him coming. Angels look like a fit.

I have to disagree. This guy could care less about a ring IMO - he's out for himself and the HR record.

I agree, Steve. Barry is playing for one thing and one thing alone. He wants the home run record.
I do think the Giants will give his request some hard thought. He is good for their attendance, both home and road. The home fans love him and the opposition's fans hate him, but they come to the park to cheer and boo.
Having characters like him around is good for the financial end of baseball, but I don't like the message it sends to kids -- get what you want at any cost.
