Who Deserves the Crown of King of MLB Prognosticators.

Pick the winners of every game each day through the end of the World Series. Each win is worth 1 point during Round 1 of the playoffs, 2 points during Round 2, and 3 points during the World Series. Total points will be posted each day. You may post your picks every day or several days ahead of time. NO Changes after first pitch of each game. If you miss a day, you may still continue playing. It is up to you to do your own research as to who's pitching, favored, injured, etc....

Do not give up gang. I was in last place at the beginning of last weekend. I only had one point going into last friday before I found the secret to my success. I actually made my picks last weekend and then reversed them since I was losing every game anyway. I think they call that the Castanza Theory: whatever you think is your smartest choice in life is, just do the opposite. And it worked. I went from worst to first.

I guess they are right. It is a very thin line that separates genius from insanity.

uh... I wanted to Cards too... but just wanted the Mets to win so I went that route... oh well.... This tourney has been pretty fun cuz I take the team I want to win... I had the Twins every game, and the Tigers every game in the ALDS (I missed one day though.. -1 point) And then I had the Dodgers and Pads almost every game in the NLDS...

I've got two issues with this baseball postseason:

First, the home-and-away format needs to be changed (for the LCS and World Series) from the present 2-3-2 to the 2-2-1-1-1 used in the NBA and NHL. Had Game 5 of the NLCS been in New York, the whole complexion of the series would probably have been different; and the Mets earned this advantage by finishing a dozen games ahead of the Cardinals during the regular season.

And second, no matter how you determine who gets the home-field advantage in the World Series (personally, I stridently disagree with using the All-Star Game for this purpose, but I suppose that's a suitable subject for another thread), there should be a stipulation that in no case can a wild-card team ever get the extra home game against a division champion (as the Tigers will in the World Series that's about to begin).

I agree with Anthony to a point. We agree that the All-Star game should not decide home field advantage in the WS. Either rotate it between the leagues or go with the better record determining it or say that a Wild Card cannot ever have home field advantage.
How about a neutral site?
As to the format, This season, both teams in the NL won games on the road and lost games at home, so that isn't a big deal. Also, transportation costs and fatigue to the players must be factored in.
Anyway, I see problems for the Commissioner, again, determining who and how home-field is given.
Back to the task at hand -- I am sticking with Detroit in this game.

Good job, everyone. How many people actually picked the Cardinals to win it all when the playoffs started? I can say that I did not -- at the beginning of the season, I thought they would, but they played so poorly in September, I didn't think they could get it done.
