...so I was watching TheGolfChannel on Tuesday, and since "we finally completed THIS US Open, we can concentrate on the site of next year's US Open," they showed a preview of the site of the 2002 US Open.
Bethpage State Park..... The Black Course..... Farmingdale, New York..... WOW!... it's a beautiful course, from the images they showed.
This is an amazing course. I think I like it better than Southern Hills already. PLUS, this is truely a public course. While you can play Pebble Beach and Pinehurst -- where Tiger Woods and Payne Stewart won their US Open titles -- for $300 a round , you can play The Black Course for $31 (though there's a sign that says, "WARNING: This course is reccomended for only highly skilled golfers")!!!!!... people line up at night in rows 25 cars deep to get a tee-off time!...
Check this course out on GolfWeb.com (http://courseguide.golfweb.com/ocdata.cgi?st=detail&gwid=10910).
