The Tigers were the best team in the AL most of the season and stumbled a bit in September, falling to the wildcard. They handled the Yankees in the ALDS and moved on to face the A's.
The A's won a tough AL Western Division and completely outplayed the Twins in the ALDS.
Which team will win this best of 7 series?

I am now a Tigers believer so I'm going with them. They have a very solid starting rotation that appears to be pretty hot and a very reliable bullpen. Also with bats like Pudge, Ordonez, Casey, Monroe, Granderson, and Guillen I think they will take it. Plus they have got Leyland who is an outstanding manager IMO.

Last night, the Tigers did what they had to do. They pitched pretty well, hit pretty well, and played good defense. Casey is out for tonight, so their bench will be very thin. Guillen goes to 1B, IMO, and their offense will suffer a bit.
Loiza goes for the A's and he is capable of shutting anyone down. He is also capable of giving up 7 runs in the first inning, so who knows what will happen.
Verlander has been solid all season, and should be the AL ROY.
Tonight should be a fun game.
On a side note -- Steve Lyons, Fox Sports Analyst, said he'd never witnessed a 100MPH pitch until last night. Rodney did it, Zumaya did it, Verlander is capable of it.
A's need need need to win today. The '04 Red Sox, they are not. I initially picked Oakland to win in 7, especially after Detroit gratuitous celebrating after merely advancing to the ALCS. The Tigers looked like a team that was just happy to be there. Turns out, they're a team that readily takes advantage of mistakes by the opposition and the A's have had their fare share of those in games 1 and 2.

Kenny Rogers is a very good pitcher, and has been for a long time. He is capable of stopping any lineup.

He's going beyond stopping any lineup. He is flat out shutting folks down. The man has never been this good.
Don't get me wrong, it's great to see. I mean...no runs in 2 games of 7+ this postseason? 2 hits allowed tonight? Man is pitching amazing right now.

Yeah, but history shows he typically folds up shop come August and was 0-3 with a 8.85 ERA in the postseason prior to this year. He has typically spit the bit in the postseason over his career, so what he has done this year has been quite surprising.
