View Full Version : Most Hated Athletes
Has there ever been an athlete that you really have always hated no matter what? For Lee, I think it's been Alexei Yashin, for me, it's most definitely Michael Irvin. Check this link out: http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2001/0618/1215598.html
Apparently, Mr. Trouble is busted again. Is there any end to his stupidity?

Apparently, Mr. Trouble is busted again. Is there any end to his stupidity? Well, Marc you're wrong. Yashin is NOT my most hated athlete... it's actually "Alexei Ya$hin" :D
Why?... well, I know you didn't ask WHY, but I'll tell you anyway! :) ...for those who don't know, he sat out with a year left on the contract that he signed before the start of the 1997 season. The contract was for three years for about $3 million per year, but after the first two years (and, after a playoffs in which the Senators got SWEPT by the Sabres, and Ya$hin didn't have a goal OR an assist), he demanded more money. Senators said no, and to keep playing under his current contract.
Makes sense, don't it?... if you sign to play for three years for $3 mil per year, you play for 3 years for $3 mil per year. Well, Ya$hin sat out the 2000 season... Senators didn't trade him, as they thought for sure that they'd win a court battle in the offseason... they did... Ya$hin was forced to play for the Sens in the 2001 year to finish the last year on the contract... now he's a restricted Free Agent... will probably be traded to the Islanders.

Read story on Ya$hin, posted on Sports Central on August 22 (http://www.sports-central.org/sports/nhl/articles/article39.shtml)

But Marc.... I don't understand why you don't like Michael Irvin. I did not read the story on ESPN, but I did read the right table titled, "Irvin's off-field trouble" ... it sounds like that instead of following a pro athelete, you are following the "career" of a criminal.
Patrick, why don't you like Martinez or Rocker?.... maybe for the same reasons I dislike Sergei Fedorov (DET) -- good player... too much money... but for what he does for what money he makes.. not worth the bucks. Plus he plays for the Red Wings :)
...but Martinez is worth what money he makes, IMO ... is it just the fact he plays for the Red Sox or what?

Lee: Patrick probably hates Rocker and Martinez for the obvious reasons. Martinez plays for the BoSox, the Yankees' fierce rivals. And Rocker, well, enough said. He made all those racial slurs and is a real jerk. I read he got into a fight with some fans down in south Jersey, too, this year. Loser. :redhot:
Why don't I like Irvin? He's a crack head! He has been in trouble with the law for beating women, and mostly drug abuse. He's a thug and plays on the mosted hated team in football (Cowboys). Or used to.

I just don't like athletes when they keep doing drugs time after time, and when they are bad role-models.

I'd imagine that's about the same as in the NBA or NFL.
....ah.... now it all makes sense... You all down there want to associate a soap opra with pro sports... that's why you don't like hockey. :)

What Marc said about Rocker is correct, that is why I don't like him.
I don't like Pedro, in a small part because he is a Red Sox fan, but more for the things he says. See my article: http://esportssection.ifroggy.com/articles/patrickokeefe14.php
He says things that just make me think what the heck is his problem?
