Fox juicing the radar gun?

You guys / gals see this? They had pitches hitting 103MPH!!! Come on???? Zamaya can throw... but I don't buy some of these others topping 100MPH. I guess one of the other guns in the area was showing speeds about 3MPH less than Fox's gun. This is sooo stupid IMO...

This is not the first time Zumaya has hit 100+ on a radar gun. Yes some guns are faster than others, but he hits 100 regularly. Verlander and Rodney are also capable of such numbers.
Roger Clemens was quoted as saying that he never looked at the stadium radar gun, because he'd want to beat his last pitch. He was more concerned about quality of pitches, not speed.

Yes, I've seen it. Weaver was clocked at 95 tonight. I'm not buying that for one second. He's a frisb-style, slider-throwing guy. He'll toss in a sinker and fastball now and then, but not with any amount of consistancy. With that said, I don't see it to Fox's advantage to exaggerate. I believe it's more likely that it's the stadium radar gun that's off.

Yeah, I don't have a hard time buying the Tigers guys throwing 100 mph, but when I see Jeff Weaver hitting 94/95 on the gun on several occasions in cold rainy weather then I have to seriously wonder about the accuracy of FOX's radar gun. In the games I watched Weaver throw for STL this he typically topped out at 90/91 on the gun. I know Weaver is throwing well of late but that has more to do with him hitting his spots and keeping the ball down in the zone.

I know Zumaya can toss 100... but the others??? As DWB pointed out Weaver... nuff said :D

I believe Verlander could hit 100 on the gun. He consistently hits 97/98 so it is not inconcievable that he could reach back for a little extra and hit 100.

I understand the question about Weaver. He hasn't thrown that hard for years.
