View Full Version : The Cowboys Implode!

Football coaches tend to be a pretty conservative lot politically - but Bill Parcells must be an exception to that rule: The act of appeasement he committed tonight was worthy of Ned Lamont! He pulled a "cut and run" and caved in to the ignoranti and did the unthinkable.

How exquisitely ironical: The Cowboys have imploded, and everybody's prime suspect - T.O. - had nothing to do with it.

T.O. has not been a bad guy since he came to Dallas. He may have been whined for a week about not getting the ball, but two weeks later I think it is safe to say that the offense is more productive when catchable passes are thrown to Owens.

I didn't see a reason to take Bledsoe out. He was getting sacked like crazy, but only about 25% of the sacks could have been avoided by a mobile QB. He may have thrown that one int in the red zone, but Romo gave them no chance at winning that game. He made so many stupid mistakes.

Looks like there is going to be a pretty big QB controversy now. "Tension is already thick between the quarterbacks. Romo said he never heard a word from Bledsoe, and the 14-year veteran was the first one off the field, then left the locker room quickly. "

Looks like the ship is sinking. All I can say to the Cowboys is to keep throwing to T.O. or else the ship will catch on fire while sinking :D

Maybe it was another forum, but did somone say Dallas was going to the Super Bowl-maybe the Crapper Bowl, but not the playoffs or the Super Bowl.

But thanks for mercifully leaving out the fact that the same someone who said Dallas was going to the Super Bowl also said that they were going to face Miami in that game! :(

That was a tough game for the Cowboys to lose. They played poorly on both sides of the ball and appeared to not be "ready to play". Isn't that what got the last couple of coaches fired there?
Mr. Jones won't put up with efforts of this sort very long and changes will be made.

On a related note, LaVar Arrington will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury. Surgery should be performed soon, but there won't be any rush. He'll be fitted with a walking boot and they'll wait for the swelling and inflamation to be relieved.

Romo made the same stupid mistakes Bledsoe would have had he been in the game. The passing game was more effective when Romo was in there i think. He got Witten and TO both involved and with Glenn still there, that could be a deadly trio. Either way, the QB you put back there is going to make stupid mistakes, so why not leave the young one with a better future ahead of him?

Well, the fact that the Giants were teeing off on Bledsoe was reason enough to yank him. The Jags and Eagles proved earlier this year that the Cowboys cannot and will not beat teams that can pressure the QB without sending the house to do so. Romo avoids the rush better than Bledsoe, but the problem is his head gets scrambled and he tries to force throws instead of just throwing it away. Romo showed last night why Parcells has been so reluctant to pull the trigger on benching Bledsoe. Romo is clearly not ready to compete against teams who get after the QB. It doesn't get any easier this weekend as they get to face Julius Peppers and co. in Charlotte. That game could get ugly fairly quickly for the Cowboys.

Football: the true team sport.

If you keep Romo as starter you have thrown away the season. I wouldn't want young QB learning the ropes on the road for the next three games when you are 3-3.

I could not disagree more. It's not like Tony Romo is some stud high draft pick sitting behind an aging veteran. This guy is not ready. You cannot put a guy who is not ready behind a pourous offensive line. The numbers were similar as far completion percentage and yards per attempt for both QB's so I don't see how anyone can say Romo did any better, in which case you go with the veteran until the young guy is ready. Example, where there was a safety in the first quarter, when Arrington came through untouched, Romo probably tries to make a play but Bledsoe just took the sack which was the right move. If you are going to get Romo ready you had best do something about that O-line

That team is just done IMO. I think Bledsoe gives you a better chance than Romo does. 3 INT's in one half is just plain aweful. Yeah, he can move, but if you cannot throw - who cares? And T.O. getting all mad and frustrated - then he drops a pass on 4th down when he's WIDE OPEN. T.O. will never learn to shut up and play. I thik last night was the beginning of the end for the Dallas Cowboys.

Tom Brady once threw four interceptions in one quarter (in 2001 at Denver), but did Bill Belichick bench him?

And was it my imagination, or did at least two of Romo's interceptions come on badly underthrown passes?

Pardon my grammar, but Romo ain't got no arm - which takes the speed of T.O. and Terry Glenn out of the offensive equation.

That Cowboys offensive line is pretty bad, poor Drew has been getting sacked so many times the last few games. The only thing Romo brings to the table that Drew doesn't is some form of mobility. Otherwise, Bledsoe has him beat in pretty much every other category. I don't think its a smart idea to switch between quarterbacks in the middle of the season.
