Hi all...I have real bad fits with my backhand...which do you guys prefer, one handed or two handed and why? I personally use a two handed backhand but it always hits the net or sails long...any advice??? Thanks!
Backhands have always been my strength - two-handed backhands is how I've always learned. Just step and follow through. You said two-handed makes you hit the net or go long, is it the same with one-handed? A little more unnatural, IMO, but do whatever works.
And welcome! Stick around. :wavey:

I use a two handed backhand, but I'm working on a one handed.
Try putting topspin on the ball, it will help a lot!

The backhand is always a fun one to figure out. :)
The two-hander is easier to learn. The one handed takes a lot of coordination and is tougher to hit if you swing late. With the 2-hander you can make up for swinging late by using your wrists to catch the racquet face up, with the 1-hander you have to rely on just your forearm to catch it up, it makes it tricky!
If you want to try a one hander try the slice, but develop the 2-hander for baseline play. The slice will come in handy when you get stretched out to hit the ball or for a nice approach shot. It also mixes up the shot selection for you. :) I use the slice for most backhands unless someone comes to the net then I try to rip the One-hander. I find that a lot of players have problems hitting the slice these days. Not too many guys use it much anymore, they just rip the ball, so it is nice to slow the pace down and hit it low.
