Big Game This Weekend in MLS Playoffs

DCU vs. NE

New England (12-8-12) is on the rise and D.C. United (15-7-10) is on the fall (after having one of their best streaks in their history). Both meet Sunday Nov. 5 at RFK... fireworks will be heard!!!

I am so frustrated with DCU... they have crashed late in the season with no real offense as of late (Christian Gomez, all by himself, moved the team into the playoffs along with super keeping by Troy Perkins). Big dollar item Adu has done precious little (for half a million you'd think you'd get a goal occasionally) and in the last two DCU games defender Facundo Erpen has made so many errors and been out of place almost entire games! NOTE TO COACH Peter Nowak: DO NOT START Facundo Erpen; don't even try... Bench him... the worst defender at the worst high school in Virginia would be a better defender than Erpen... matter of fact.... leave a hole and play a man down rather than play Erpen...Troy would do better without Facundo

All this said, I hope DCU can somehow recapture old glory and beat NE! I know it will be a major miracle but I hope it happens... New England is a five-time Eastern Conference finalist but has never won the playoffs...Taylor Twellman, Pat Noonan, and Matt Reis will be doing all they can to stop DCU

First touch is at 4:00 p.m. ET Sunday... Onward Black-and-Red...:redhot:

ps... lock Erpen in the supply room...

This really is "the big one." Houston v Colorado in the Western Conference definitely feels like the undercard. I think Houston could give either of the remaining Eastern Conference teams a real game, but not the Rapids.

Clint Dempsey, Taylor Twellman, Freddy Adu. Nothing like big names in big games. That's usually their time to shine.

By the way, the Revs have made it to MLS Cup twice, losing both times to the Galaxy. Once in '02 and once last year in '05. By "never won the playoffs," you do mean they've never won the title, right? Since preseason, I think NE has been the favorite for the title, but that's why they play the games. I'm just hoping for a good contest.

Well, I suppose that's one way of supporting your favorite team...

Congrats to the Houston Dymano, MLS Cup champions. Don't know if anyone else here watched the game on Sunday, but, uh, it was a pretty far cry from "entertaining" and "technically sound." This game showed that MLS still has quite a way to go in terms of quality product.

Also, it's likely that Clint Dempsey will be playing in Spain by the end of January. Athletico Madrid is the rumoured team to be on his trail, right now.
