Amen...ty Rutgers, if any of you readers read my "First Impressions" Thread I posted discussing WV and Louisville you know exactly what i'm talking about. Rutgers beat Louisville with: hard nose offensive style, Tackling Tackling Tackling, and a sign from god that this was just destined to happen. When Ito missed that FG from the 20 yard line i nearly threw up, so did Bobby Pitrino when he saw the flag that gave the Rutgers a second chance. Now we won't be put through the misery of watching an overrated Louisville team get creamed in the BCS championship game, WV also has a loss, and all is well and good in college football land. Now to deal with the mystery we know of as Rutgers. The Rutgers have the same exact football team as the Texas Longhorns. They have a really stingy defense, good running game and a young quarterback who can move and throw. But.., that is a combination that will lose when faced with the right type of team. Who will make the championship game???
Texas will lose to A&M or maybe BIG-12 North opponent
Rutgers will lose to WV or maybe even Cincy next week
Florida will lose to SC or FL ST because, Leek isn't a champion quarterback
and he will choke just as he always has
USC will lose to CAL and/or ND
Auburn will fall because they won't get into thier own championship game
So who's left....CAL and the loser of OS and MICH for #2.
They will finish the year in that order....
Once again I say it looks like Mich ans OSU are the best two teams and unless Nov. 18 ends in a blow out they should play again for the title. I know they won't, but they should. Still a consolation for the loser of a trip to Pasdena isn't all bad.

it seems to me the only people in this universe that want to see a rematch are OS and MICH fans because they're both scared that they will lose the first encounter. I don't want to see the same two teams play twice in a row. Throw CAL in there and lets see somthing a little different. CAL deserves it: they've beaten the snot out of everyone on their schedule (save Tennessee), and if they win out there will have been some impressive wins. The Tennessee game was against the best quarterback (Ainge before he got hurt) in the nation and it was the first game of the year. Since then they've worked out the kinks and are an elite team. I'd rather see CAL matchup against the winner of OS and MICH.

Ask buckeye about that. I'm sure he'd rather take a bullet then have to watch another OSU-Michigan played in the desert.
The Big East is still a joke. Congrats to Rutgers for getting the big win but we still don't know how good any of those teams really are since they don't play any of the big boys. And the only ones that do, like Syracuse and Cincinnati, aren't good enough to beat them.

If Rutgers, a BCS team, finishes undefeated and gets left out of the National Championship game while a one-loss team gets in, that'll be a travesty.
We all convinced ourselves, myself included, that the Big East is just gonna automatically suck and be far-and-away the worst BCS conference year-in and year-out when they lost Miami, VT, and BC. I really think a lot of people will not be driven off that notion regardless of how well they are actually playing. As Stewart Mandel of SI put it:
'This continuing backlash against Louisville and the Big East is both arrogant and ignorant (and you know it's bad when the leading spokesman for the cause is Terry Bradshaw). Supporters of the SEC and other conferences are certainly entitled to their opinions about the inferiority of the Big East, but let's not pretend like they're in any way based on facts. Fact I: The Big East's champion beat the SEC's champion in a bowl game just last year. Fact II: The SEC (28-7) and Big East (26-8) have the two best non-conference records this season. Fact III: The Big East is 11-7 against other BCS-conference opponents this season; no other league has more than seven wins or is above .500." (emphasis mine.)
If Rutgers is left out of the NC game this year, I think you will probably see yet another "we'll fix this problem with a new rule!" response from the NCAA that will state that no undefeated BCS conference school can be left out of the NC game unless there are more than two of those.
Otherwise, they should just stop humiliating the Big East and just strip them now of their BCS status because OMG you lost Miami, BC and Virginia Tech and replaced them with USF, Cincinnati and Louisville you suck you suck you suck you suck! ...or, serve notice to the BCS squads that start the year ranked outside the 25 that if they don't have any heavies on their early-season schedule to potentially upset in time to wake up the voters, forget about playing for an NC no matter HOW well you do.

The whole Michigan/OSU rematch for the National Title stuff is a joke. Michigan has to beat Ohio State to be on National Title level. This much, is reality. How many weeks now has Michigan looked un-impressive? Minnesota, Penn State, Iowa, Northwestern. They did not look like a National Champion in those games. Did they against Notre Dame? Ok, sure, but reality is that Notre Dame is probably a team that should be in the 15-20 range, rank wise.
If Rutgers beats West Virginia and goes undefeated and Michigan loses to Ohio State, then Rutgers is going to the National Title game. Ohio State with one loss and undefeated Rutgers is still close, the Texas win gives Ohio State a better argument than Michigan would have, though.
But, the SEC is hands down the best Conference. So, I lean towards sending their Champion to play the winner of OSU/UM.

And the funny thing is, imo the Big East is a better conference than the ACC.

I do too. In fact, for 2006, I almost think it's beyond debate.

It won't happen this week, and I am even afraid it wouldn't at the end of the season if they are still undefeated, but on fairness alone it seems that since Rutgers is undefeated now and just beat the #3 team in the nation that they should move up above all the other 1 loss teams in the polls.
I wouldn't blame an Ohio State (or Michigan) fan for campaigning for Rutgers in the title game. It makes it that much easier for them. :P
Rutgers would get flattened like a pancake by the Buckeyes or Wolverines. I don't think the Knights have played a game against an opponent with a decent defense yet this season.

I'm not sure if eric wants a rematch or simply says there should be a rematch...as far as fairness goes.
My thoughts remain steady...
I don't believe in the BCS, playoffs, or the polls. I like the old system and having the polls as a fun "sidenote."
As far as fairness goes under the weird system we are forced to have...
1. An undefeated Rutgers should play an undefeated OSU or UM.
2. If Rutgers were to lose and Ohio State was left as the only undefeated it should be OSU-Michigan cuz Michigan would be the only 1-loss team who had their lone defeat come at the hands of the Buckeyes (Texas is thrown out cuz their loss to OSU came at home).
3. If Rutgers were to lose and Michigan was left as the only undefeated it should be Michigan-Wisconsin cuz Wisconsin would be the only 1-loss team who had their lone defeat come at the hands of the Wolverines (Notre Dame and Ohio State are thrown out cuz their losses to UM came at home).
So here it is...
OSU-Rutgers
Michigan-Rutgers
OSU-Michigan
Michigan-Wisconsin
Provided all win the rest of their games in each scenario those are the only 4 battles that I see as being fair.
Of course what is fair in this system and what I want are two different things. I would love it if OSU went undefeated and played the Pac Ten Champ in the Rose Bowl. The honor is in playing the game though winning is nice. After the OSU-UM game is over...the season is over...as far as my rules go. The goals are (in order of importance)
1. Beat Michigan
2. Win the Big Ten
3. Go to the Rose Bowl
Alex...
The opponent for OSU or Michigan in this game we are going to be forced to play has no bearing. Neither team will ever receive the recognition it deserves on the national level anyway.
Consider this: Rutgers may be the team that finally gets college football to revamp the post-season.
Pretty. Damn. Hilarious.

wow turmoil.
everything happened as stated except florida
they started choking against SC as i foresaw but SC then preformed the hymlick maneuver on Florida to revive them. Florida is not a championship team but if they can keep hanging around....
