View Full Version : Fox must be loving all of this
Potentially Wake Forest, Rutgers and Boise State in BCS games. I doubt that's what they thought they signed up for. Meanwhile, ABC is sitting pretty since the Rose Bowl might end up as the only BCS game with a match up that will draw in fans outside of the diehards with the Ohio State-Michigan loser against the Pac-10 champ.
Rutgers-Ohio State, if it happens, might be interesting just for the comedic value of watching the Knights get run off the field by the Buckeyes.

I don't know that Rutgers being in the mix is such a bad thing from a TV point of view. It potentially draws the NYC/Philly/NJ market which by and large seems to show little interest in college football as there are never any teams from that region that even sniff a New Year's game let alone a bowl game The two major D-IA football teams in that region, Temple and Rutgers, have mostly been laughing stocks when it comes to their football programs over the past 30 years or so.
I'm not sure Rutgers means big numbers because of the NYC market. I lived in Jersey and college football isn't big there. Not in Jersey, and especially not NY. This reminds me of the PTI discussion about how Tony doesn't know or care about Rutgers and Wilbon is lambasting him because Tony's the NY/East Coast guy who typically has an bias. Rutgers has been out of the picture so long it doesn't matter where they are geographically. But I have to hand it to Greg Schiano, that guy is quite the coach.

There's college football on the East Coast? :P
