My man thought Oklahoma lost on Saturday and voted 'em lower in his rankings so they kicked him off the panel.

It is the AP so it's not associated with the BCS but this is still pretty embarrassing.
The AP was once part of the BCS and still crowns their on NC. Plus any future playoff might use the AP as a source in determing seedings.
Just play the games and have fun...the montra continues.
Personally, even in light of this, I think the AP has a ton more credibility than any coaches poll ever will.

This is why we need a playoff system.

We got one mush. It began in late August.

I agree completely many many coaches have already admitted that they let there SID or even Team manager fill out the polls because they don't have time or even care about it.

None of the human polls have any real credibility. Seriously, like the AP writers have any more time than the coaches do to keep up with all of the major teams out there. They are all too busy covering their regional teams to effectively keep up with the rest of the country.

The answer is unquestionably "yes." It's in their freaking job description. What does a coach do on Saturdays? Coach. What does an AP pollster do on Saturdays? Watches national coverage of the day's games.
Anyway, this is all moot, ultimately. I'm with Mush. Any sport that determines it's champ by votes is just plain broken. I also reject the notion that the regular season is the playoffs. If that were the case, why bother playing out the year? I'm sure this has all been covered dozens of times before.

Uh, no, a large number of the AP pollsters are out covering regional games and writing stories not sitting at home in their lazy boys watching games on TV.
And being an AP pollster is not a job it is a bunch of members of the media who are asked to do it by the AP and I don't think they are compensated for it either.

You are right on I was a sports editor for a Daily Newspaper in Virginia and was on the AP Voter list for two years. Virginia was having a pretty good season, but (imo) not deserving of a Top Ten spot, yet the Publisher of the paper HAD to see my ballot before I sent it in to make sure I put UVA in the top ten.

Well...just push Michigan out then...
Seriously though, no system makes sense but the old system and even then you take the polls lightly. Regionalization is what made the game great and it should have stayed that way.

Actually one of those years was 97' when the writers made Michigan National Champs and the Coches gave it to Nebraska. Michigan did get at least one vote out of the state of Virgnia:lol:

I think that 97 Michigan team is the strongest squad to come out of the Big Ten since the 1979 Buckeyes. We have to wait to see what happens this year though...:P

This is why the media's indignation towards the computer polls just kills me.

We need the computers because they tend to balance out the rabid SEC love the humans have. All ya need to do is look at the ranking of any SEC team in the human polls compared to the computer polls to figure that one out. It isn't as pronounced as it was last year, but it is a pretty consistent feature of the BCS. The computers favor the Big Ten and Pac Ten every year.
I'm pro dot-com machine on this one. Never thought you'd live to see the day huh? :D
