Bo Schembechler dead at age 77

One can imagine the full obit, but I don't personally think it's appropriate to write that obituary till Sunday.

I'm suddenly way more interested in this game as a spectacle now than I was previously. Before, it was just #2 traveling to #1 for a rivalry matchup.

Now, #2 has a mission beyond the rivalry. Beyond the MNC. Beyond the Big Ten title. Beyond the BCS. They are now tasked with a mission from God.

Teams on missions are dangerous regardless of where they're playing and how overmatched they may be. (Not that I think UM was incredibly overmatched, but... I've considered this game to be a relatively easy OSU victory. It could be really interesting now, I think.)

The emotional tide, likely to be in OSU's favor at the start, may have just swung the other direction.

Yeah, this sucks for college football, and, though it may make me a jerk to say so, it sucks because of the momentum this may well give Michigan. What a sad pall will hang over the game now. Wow.

Bo Shembechler was the reason Michigan football is where it is today. He was one of the best of a great generation of coaches. No one that played for him and gave him their best effort will ever say anything but good things about him.
Rest in peace, Bo.

So how do you all think this will effect the game tomorrow? I kind of think OSU is better in almost all aspects (except for Michigans defensive line), but you can never rule out Michigan in a rivalry like this. I wonder if an event this crazy will give them that needed boost.

It is never too soon to pay respect for the man who just died, regardless of a upcoming sporting event! "Obituary", is how you could sum up how many of us Michigan Fans feel,...not too soon by any means! It didn't take BO for Michigan to be a great football program,...matter of fact Michigan was the first team to ever win a National Championship! Yes, BO was my favorite, but only because he continued a great tradition.....listen to "HAIL TO THE VICTORS", and one shall learn! But with BO, and all the current and previous coaches the Maize and Blue have been able to brag that they have the best record of all-time above any school bigger than all the beauty colleges!

Does that really sound proper to say that his death gives the Wolverines an advantage? C'mon,...the guy is dead! I'm 43 years old, watched BO coach teams every year back home in Michigan, and continued to do so while I served my 21 years in the US Navy around the world.

I will be the one to say,..."GOD BLESS BO!" "GOD MADE THE SKY BLUE BECAUSE HE IS A MICHIGAN WOLVERINES FAN!"

Personally I was devastated when I heard the news.

Yeah, it's a case of old school dying and the way it should be done but it means even more now in the age of no accountability and cowardly angles to achieve things...in sports and life.

I'll never forget the time when I was a kid riding my bike and just screwin' around in the neighborhood with my brother and another friend. All of a sudden we saw both Bo and Woody walking by my high school (future high school...one was walkin' in and the other out) on a recruiting trip. As they crossed each other on the sidewalk... neither one acknowledged the other. They just went their separate ways.

Hardcore til the end. The way it should be.
