Hey, Im wondering if I should pull of a trade in my Fantasy Baseball league.

Im getting Rob Nen and Trevor Hoffman, in return I give up Jason Giambi and Greg Maddux.

The thing is, I need closers, I currently have none on my pitching staff ( 7 pithcers are carried by each team) and although Im second in wins in the 10-man league, Im in 9th for Saves. (Rotisserie style Scoring)

The only concerns I have is the ERA of the 2 closers Im getting, as Maddux is the guy who helps keep my teams ERA low now. As for hitting, I think I can afford to give up Giambi, because I have Manny Ramirez, Sexson, and Ichiro who help to make my team one of the top in hitting. Saves are the only thing I believe are preventing me from winning my league, although Im currently in 6th place in a tight race for first. Is the deal worht it?

Yes go for it. Closers are very important. It seems you have plenty of power in your lineup without Giambi. The only negative like you said is Greg Maddux's ERA. That's hard to replace. Think about it good. Trevor Hoffman is very good, but the team has no starting pitching so he may not get many chances to earn saves. Think about it. Nen stands a better chance at saves.

I don't know. If you haven't had closers on your team by now, you're probably far behind and might not be able to make up many points in the saves category. Plus, closers only earn points in the saves category really, because they don't pitch to get wins, and don't pitch enough innings to rack up the strikeouts.

If you're close enough to where you could pick up a couple quick points, maybe. But in my opinion, I think you're giving up too much as Giambi is one of the best offensive forces in the league, and Maddux is having a very roto-friendly year.

Is there any way you could pick up a closer as a free agent? Maybe a Steve Karsay or somebody from the Braves committee.

If you are that much down in Saves, keep the players you have and try to win in other areas.

Well, I made the trade. Thanks for you're input. The other guy is forced to release a firstbaseman, that being Doug Meintkiewicz. So I'll pick up him - My team is hot right now so hopefully this trade will put me over the hump.
