I've been on multiple message boards and discussed this so many times today that I can only say that the future of the Penguins in Pittsburgh is actually uncertain.

There's this plan and that plan and plans galore. Everyone of them saying we'll do this much for the arena and everybody else does this.

The failure of the Isle of Capri bid, in my opinion, hurt the the city of Pittsburgh. They were planning on rebuilding and revitalizing a bad city by putting in supermarkets and new houses as well as creating new jobs with the casino and arena.

Basically, we just have to wait.

Wasn't this supposed to be in the Hill District J?

Did O'Connor's death have anything to do with this latest failure?

Is Cuban still interested? Get him on the phone. He may be willing to pony up a portion of the cost to get an arena built.

buckeye, the new arena was panned on being built where or close to where the Mellon Arena is now, that being in the lower part of the Hill District right next to Downtown.

The Hill is not a good part of the city and plans were made from the IOC to put money into rebuilding this area. The casino/arena would create jobs and the IOC would rebuild the area and give money to a new grocery store -something the Hill hasn't seen in a long time, sad I know.

O'Connor's death was a non factor.

doublee, as for Cuban, not much has been talked of recently. Last I heard was he wasn't interested because it would take more time away from his family.

Could be a political push for a new arena in the city. But something has to be done...and soon.
