My brother got it for Christmas. Interesting yet confusing. They have a Playboy station on there.
Ya know...I consider myself to be fairly educated but can someone tell me how porn over the radio works?

I'm not sure doublee but he is on there.
I haven't had a porn chart since I was a kid so I really can't judge such matters.

Well, the handful of times that I listened to him on the radio it seemed as though the bulk of his show was spent talking to porn stars or strippers.

Ugh...more technology. :uhoh:
I have Sirius. The stations I listen to needs more variety, but the no commercials is great ... on the music stations. Still commercials on the talk ones. And the DJs talk too much. Not perfect, but I'm happy.

I listen primarily to 124...NFL talk radio. If anyone else listens to it you'd have to agree that Jerry Rice is quite possibly the worst talk radio personality in the history of radio.
So Jerry, what do you think of the Colts?
"Um...uh....the Colts have a bad run defense...and uh...um...teams have had success running against them"
Thanks Jerry...any more amazing insight??

That is not surprising. He was rather underwhelming when they gave him a trial run on, I think it was CBS, TV a couple of years ago. He just strkes me as someone who had little to no charisma.

I've taken craps with more charisma.
The guy strikes me as just plain stupid. He honestly offers nothing in terms of information or insight. Just points out the obvious and uses the word "competitive" every other sentence.
What do you think about Favre, Jerry?
"Uh....um...He's very competitive..and ...uh ....um...He's been great for the Packers for a long time"

I have Sirius, I am on my 2nd radio actually. Bought an S50 in August and gave my old one to my husband so I wouldn't have to be subjected to FM radio when I was in his car. ;) I agree that Sirius isn't perfect, my main gripe is that compared to XM, Sirius' 90's channel completely sucks. XM has a great 90's channel. And there isn't as much music variety overall. But I love my S50, I have almost 400 songs on it and it's about 60% full. I will never go back to life without satellite radio.

I have Sirius in my pickup truck. It's taped to the dash with duct tape and caulk. I like the comedy channels, and little commercials. Nice.

Siruis is awsome if you have to travel on Sundays alot. So you can still get your football fix. Sunday seems to be one of my busier days with towing so I am in the car alot so it really helps.

I had a college girl ask me what station I am on.
I said "1390."
She said "That's strange. My radio dial only goes up to, like, 105-point something."
I guess she hasn't discovered that "old-fashioned" world known as AM radio!

Sorry man....I promise it's nothing personal...if I'm in your broadcast area I'll switch it over for at least one commercial break. :D Deal?

Deal.
Because I don't want to have to go out and find a real job.

Apparently, XM and Sirius have reached a deal to merge together (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070219/ap_on_bi_ge/xm_radio_sirius).
I don't know what this merger entails, but the thing that has always turned me off about satellite radio is the partnerships and deals made with certain companies.
For instance, Major League Baseball is found on one provider, while the NFL is found on another provider.
As a fan of both, how do you decide which provider to go with?

Since I am a fan of all sports, Sirius actually works for me because it has everything except MLB.....

If I had to choose one or the other, I would probably go with Sirius as well, because I can pick up the Royals games locally, and that is the only Major League Baseball team I truly care about.
As for my thoughts on satellite radio, I guess because I work in radio I always get a kick out of listening to what other hometown radio stations do and what other hometown radio stations sound like.
I can listen to slick and polished programs like "Mike & Mike In The Morning" anywhere in the country, but I have always appreciated the local angle and local aspects of sports stories you get from local radio personalities who are more in tune to what is going on in your area of the country than the guys at ESPN Radio or Fox Sports ever will be.
It is the same sort of relationship you build by watching local television news and seeing the same weather man talking about your particular area day in and day out.
And I think that bond is important to a listener.
I love Sirius, been a subscriber for over a year. My concern is will my existing equipment work in the future? Who knows, but it will be an amazing service with all the personalities and such featured.
I see your point about local radio, toby, but there's something special about being able to drive across states and still have your favorite stations with you. I do miss local Kentucky sports radio at times, but I have the Internet to make up for it. :)

Have you checked out the new channel 24, Lithium? It has increased my enjoyment of Sirius by about 1000 times, and I am a nearly 2 year subscriber who already loved it to death.
I guess they are saying any changes from the merger wouldn't happen until at least the end of this year. I'm not going to panic until it seems like something actually might happen, for now anyway. :)

I listen to the Spectrum (ch. 24) a bit, as well as the classic rock stations and Alternative Nation (ch. 21). I also listen to Howard Stern a bit and occasionally ESPN/CNN/CNBC. But I mostly stick to Hip-Hop Nation and Shade 45, because, you know, I gotta hang with my ghetto peeps. There is way too much repetition on the hip-hop stations, unfortunately. Too much like FM.

Honestly, this is one of my gripes about Sirius in general, which is probably why I have loved the addition of Lithium as much as I have. All of the channels seem to have a LOT of repetition. Probably part of it is the fact that I listen to Sirius all day at work, so I'm logging more hours than their average listener probably is. But some of my favorite channels are the Big 80's and Totally 70's, and I have barely listened to either now that Lithium is there because I have been hearing the same songs over and over! You would think with entire decades to pick from, it wouldn't be so bad.
Since Lithium plays songs that you couldn't really hear anywhere else until now, I have been listening a lot. Once I get sick of the repetition there I will probably go somewhere else. :D It's still better than FM radio, but I am hoping that with the merger, we'll get more variety than we have now.
