There is a kid at my school who currently lives in a small town in Canada (similar to the one in the movie based in Alaska).
Now this kid was asked to join Team Illinois, and is now a starter on the team. What amazes me, is that he is sixteen, thousands of miles from home, and in a state just to play hockey. Must be damn good, right?
Hell yes! He turned down Juniors in order to be eligible for a scholarship to Michigan. He's been scouted by pros and stuff.
His name is Rylan Burns, so for all you collectors, keep your eyes peeled for him :)
Now, isn't that just an amazing story?

Ummm... I guess you've never heard the Wayne Gretzky story or anything... sure, Gretzky moved a few hundred miles (versus a few thousand miles) from home to play hockey when he was sixteen, but I'm sure that those types of things happen with every superstar player of every sport, because they can't stay in the smalltown where they grew up or they will likely never make it to the big leagues.
...I bet Scott Gomez (New Jersey) did the same thing as this kid you're talking about... he's from Alaska, too.
Since i'm a hockey card collecter i'll be there to get his first ever card!!!!! How many points did he have with Michigan?

Well, beat this, and this is true (no kidding)
My cousin's friend's sister's best friend's husband is friends with Mike Keane (RW, Dallas).
I'm practically related to Mike! he he :)

Or says he is friends with him. There is a difference you know. You sure your cousin isn't just trying to impress you? Have you ever seen Mike Keane with his cousin's friend's sister's best friend's husband with Mike Keane?
You spend much time with your cousin's friend's sister's best friend's husband?!?!? lol :)

Stop making fun of my story. Okay, I don't even think my dad's friend's son is really gonna make it too far, he's just on same Canadian team but I don't know all the details. I know you're just joking around though.
This is real:
My mom's friend is the counsin of Mats Lindgren a former Oiler and now a Islander. REALLY! I actually went to his house!!!
I bet you didn't know this:
JakeLiwicki, a moderator here, is the son of a former NFL player (a linebacker for the Bears, I believe - he tackled Walter Payton!)

Wow. That's cool. My math teacher and my neighbor played basketball against Kareem Abdul during high school or college or something.

...Theo Fleury (NYR) grew up in a town about 1 hour away from where I live
...Ed Belfour (DAL) grew up south of me a few hours
...Kevin Hodson (back Detroit netminder... I don't know if he's still there, though) brought the Stanley Cup to his hometown when he won it in 1998
That's all Manitoban blood!!! WooHoo!
(however, I have never met any of them ! :()

My dad went to school with Tony Danza. Wait, that isn't sports related. Ok, my friend's dad was invited to try out for some pro baseball teams when he was younger but didn't make the cut.
~~ This is really related to hockey anymore, so it has been moved to the Other Sports Discussion board ~~

This definatly isn't sports related and sorry if anyone is annoyed. Anyway, (And I don't know if you guys have this in the US) my brother's, friend's, ex-girlfriend drew the bee off the Honey nut loops box (It's a cereal if you didn't know).
