Except for the texas Rangers teams in the AL West stayed basically the same. Even though the Angels lead the AL West they didn't improve their pitching staff which has a lot of questions. Colon is injured and Santana who was struggling was sent to the minors.

The A's were unable to move Mike Piazza.

The Mariners tried for Octavio Dotel but couldn't pull it off.

Do you see LA continuing to hang on to first without improving their pitching?

I think so-But Seattle will give them a run for their money.

I really thought the Angels should've tried to acquire a big bat. How long does King Vlad have to big alongside eight pawns?

I the Mariners will give them a run at it, but in the end, the Halos will win the west. THat said, I hope I am wrong and I'd really like to see Seattle win it.

I have a hunch Piazza will move this month as will Shannon Stewart. The A's weren't able to move either at the deadline, but they had discussions about both.
I agree that the Angels will likely win the West, and Juan Rivera may come back from his injury to help them down the stretch. Howie Kendrick should be back to play 2B and they may bring Brandon Wood up to play at 3B. Lets see what happens.
I could see the Twins working a deal for Piazza (giving up a minor leaguer or 2) to placate Santana and Hunter.

I don't see any team in the AL West having a chance of advancing to the AL Championship game.
