View Full Version : Are wide receivers really that crucial to YOUR team?
This topic refers to the recent SC article at: http://www.sports-central.org/sports/nfl/articles/article56.shtml - "Wide Receivers: Don't Your Money on Them". What do you guys think? According to this columnist's opinion, there is and always will be a vast talent pool of WR's for your fantasy team, and great QB's and RB's are far harder to get. Thoughts?

This is pretty true. Except for my opinion that great WR's are worth it and tough to get. Marvin Harrison and Randy Moss would fall into that category.

Marc & Patrick... I would certainly agree with that point about wideouts. Every year you can pick up very productive receivers as free agents, however that is simply not the case for running backs and to some degree quarterbacks.
Every team has two starting wide receivers and only one running back. By simply math alone, you realize how scarce running backs really are.
Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday!

Good posts, guys.
Anyone else?

That's true for me as well. I would much rather draft a running back rather than a wide receiver, unless it was either Moss or maybe Harrison.
Although with Harrison, he does great in the first 8 weeks, then his touchdown totals take a nose dive in the last half of the season.
Quarterbacks: I usually draft a quarterback in the 5th or 6th round after I have 3 quality backs and at least one good receiver.
