View Full Version : Is Anna faking it?
How many major tournaments in a row has she pulled out of for a lingering foot injury? C'mon, didn't she just recently compete in a smaller-scale doubles tournament. She needs to either play or not play. If you can't play in major tourneys, she ought not to be playing in doubles tournaments. Is Anna faking the injuries or what?

Marc, give me a break!
Faking an injury would be terrible PR for a player. That's kind of just the nature of tennis--injuries can nag and nag. Look at Richard Krajicek and Mark Philippoussis. They've both been out for the majority of the year with seemingly minor injuries.
And, as far as playing in a "smaller-scale doubles tournament," she aslo played singles, but lost early, and the doubles might have just aggravated the injury, since she made the finals. She just came back too early. A player has to test herself at smaller tournaments to prepare for the larger ones. You can't just jump into a Grand Slam with no match play, especially after an injury. The doubles play proved to Anna that she wasn't ready to come back yet. Better to find out now than disappoint everyone at the US Open.
Anyway, if Anna didn't want to play tennis anymore, she wouldn't have to. She has modeling contracts out the you-know-what and a rich boyfriend. She's just injured and will hopefully be back soon.

Anyway, I don't think she's faking it... that's just ludicrous!

I would certainly hope that she is not faking it, but ya never know.
Heck, if she wasn't injured all of the time when would she have all the time to be on the front cover of every other magazine I see on the shelves?
She probably has to continue to play per contracts and appearance fees and such. You never knwo who she has signed with to show up.
All in all, i seriously doubt she is faking. I am sure by now she has enough money to make a very comfortable living for the rest of her life. I bet all she wants now is a stinking trophy!!!
Lee--
Sports Illustrated has an article last week about Kournikova and Federov together, but reportedly not married.

I doubt she's faking it. Hell, she doesn't even need to play tennis anymore.
