View Full Version : Is anyone watching this besides me?
I'm talking the U.S. Open, no one seems to participating in the other thread. I have been watching matches when I can, here and there, as much as possible. I did get to see the GREAT Agassi vs. Sampras CLASSIC match last night. Anyone else? In fact, it set a cable record for tennis (http://www.sportsline.com/u/ce/multi/0,1329,4277240_7,00.html), which is good for the game. As you well know by now, Sampras prevailed, but both men deserve credit on an incredible match! I'm pulling for Sampras on the men's side.

I've been watching. Can't believe Kafelnakov beat Kuerten :(
I watched last night. It was such a truly great match.

Good Lord, Williams sisters final :redhot: :redhot: , I'm not watching cause i don't care for either of them. Though I bet Serena wins it.
So in the mens is it Kafelnakov v. Hewitt, and Sampras v. Safin?

I concur. Whoever their yahoo father wants to win it will. I defintely hoped Capriati or Hingis would win this afternoon.

I have watched more tennis in these last 2 weeks than I have ever watched in a 2 week period. This has to be one of the best Slams I have ever seen.
I am praying that Sampras can pull this out and add #14 to his list. If he can I think he would be a little more motivated to go out and kick some butt!!!
Serena is playing some of the best tennis in her career right now, but she has always stumbled in playing her elder sister. This should be interesting, can she make a statement? We'll see.
Go Sampras!

I think Williams will win the Women's US Open.... Venus Williams.
Older sisters Venus Williams won the U.S. Open (http://www.espn.go.com/tennis/usopen01/s/2001/0908/1249618.html) on the women's side last night. Great match, with Serena looking food at first, then Venus firing back and taking the match.
But as SC's Jay Bewley (http://sports-central.org/other/staff/j_bewley.shtml) said in his recent tennis article (http://sports-central.org/sports/tennis/articles/article93.shtml), the women need to always play at least three sets! Two sets is far too short, you're short-changing the players a chance for comeback and the fans who paid to see the match!
I was pulling for Serena, but Venus has always had the edge in this dual. Must be a big sister thing. :)
