So says Sportsline (http://www.sportsline.com/u/ce/multi/0,1329,4310515_56,00.html):
FAA grants university's request to restrict air space over stadium

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Federal Aviation Administration has barred aircraft from flying in the vicinity of Michigan Stadium during this week's game.

University of Michigan athletic director Bill Martin had asked the agency to restrict the space following last week's terrorist attacks. The stadium is the biggest on a college campus, with more than 107,000 seats.

The FAA will restrict flights within a radius of 1.15 miles of the stadium and up to an altitude of 3,000 feet. The notice will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, during Michigan's game against Western Michigan, and includes blimps, banner towers and general aviation aircraft.
Personally, I think this is a little silly, but I guess you can never be too sure during times like this. Thoughts?

Not only is that the "biggest (stadium) on a college campus," at a 107,000 capacity... I betcha that's one of the biggest stadiums on the earth... Olympic Stadium in Sydney holds 110,000, and I doubt that many "football" stadiums over in Europe hold much more than that.

Anyway, a place like that could be an "easy target" if there were to be another terrorist attack.... like you said, Marc, "you can never be too sure during times like this."

I think it's a good idea. And yes, it is one of the biggest stadiums in the world. It shouldn't be a huge problems for planes to go around the stadium.

Good idea. The number of people killed in the WTC tragedy is 1/22 of the people in the Big House on a typical Saturday. I also heard that Camp Randall Stadium (Wisconsin) is doing the same thing.

Yeah, it's a good idea. Better safe than sorry.
