View Full Version : NHL season too long

In an ideal world the NHL's season would be over in May. I don't like the idea of the league going from October to June. By June, I have had enough of hockey and am ready for real summer activities. Does anybody else think less is more when it comes to hockey?

I think it should end much earlier. Also, if they had it end sooner, maybe the games could be played more frequently. I don't like waiting every 3 days to see my team play.
I also agree. Hockey should be a October-May thing, no one wants to watch hockey in the summer! :)
The NBA and MLB suffer from the same problem: their seasons are far too long!

...I agree -- although I don't want to watch hockey in the summer, I do, and it's great!!! (but for those in Miami, Dallas, Pheonix, Georgia, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Anaheim, it really doesn't matter what time of year hockey is played because it's "summer" there all the time... but that's another thread! :) )
The NHL is doing the best it can to have an 82 game schedule and have the playoffs end as early as possible. I think June 10 was the latest possible game, and the finals were over before that.
You can't really cut down the 82 game schedule, so the only thing you could really change about the NHL's current schedule is a best-of-5 series in the first 1 or 2 rounds of the playoffs.
Also, some better schedule making!!!... was it the Flames (or Canucks?) that had the ENITRE week off last week... terrible.
