I have always liked Wilson, but Prince's are nice, too. I really need a new one. :D By the way, welcome Zachery! :wavey: Stick around, we would love to hear your thoughts on tennis issues!

You can always try Google if you aren't sure of the name of something. I do it all the time. Type what you think it is and it will say "Did you mean..." if there is a similar match with more results.

The brand is called Volkl. You can go to tennis.com and click on "Tools" then "Find a racket" to see descriptions and reviews of tons of Volkls and other rackets. Volkls look a little pricey. If you're looking for less expensive rackets, you can choose the price range you want and the reviews will tell you if the racket fits your needs.

Does anyone have firsthand information on the Volkl Quantum V1 midplus racket? I've read several good test reviews on this one. Thanks for the input!

I used the Prince Precision Response racquets too, until they discontinued them a few years ago. I have used the Wilson Hammer 5.2 Classics since. Of coarse those are now discontinued. Of coarse with the internet it is easy to get used ones now, or easier than it used to be!

question and if I don't know it I'll get it for you.

Volkl is not one of the big three (Head, Prince, Wilson) and is in a category similar to Dunlop and Babolat. Volkl racquets are top notch and are starting to make a splash on the pro tours. Taylor Dent, Corina Morariu and John McEnroe use Volkl. Volkl is partly owned by Boris Becker.

Volkl has a series of frames aimed at different levels. The Catapult series is the newest and it is meant for begginers to intermediates. They are relatively expensive, but feature Volkl's "catapult" technology. The technology incorporates a spring feature in the bumper and grommet strip that makes the strings snap back after contact, making the ball fly off the strings and elongating the string bed (makes for better control).

The Quantom Series have rackets for all levels. the V1 Midplus is aimed at the intermediate market but playtesters have given it high marks even for the tournament player. Its cross section is 28mm (stiff) and is 9.9 oz unstrung (medium lite). The head size is 102 in2, which is more than midsize but smaller than Oversize (hence, the mid plus. Oversize begins at 110 in2). If you wish you can visit the Volkl site (www.volkl.com) and you can learn more.

Someone also mentioned "Vortex" I seem to remember that there was a Prince frame named vortex or that a series of Prince frames use "vortex" technology. These were intermediate level frames and come prestrung. They are ok, but if you are serious about tennis you should look at what are called players frames instead. The Volkl is a decent choice.
