Why? Why?

Alonzo Mourning will be an all-star this year.
My guess is Grant Hill will be an all-star this year.

It's gotten to the point where I'm suprised Michael Jordan hasn't been a write-in selection.

Did I miss something? Are these guys really having all-star seasons? Do NBA fans actually pay ANY attention to the game? I could rant on and on about it, but I'll let you guys take over for me and help me figure this stuff out.

...EVERY sport has this problem. I do believe on the old SC boards we had a discussion about this on the baseball board.

Another sport that had problems last year with this was the NHL, with Dominik Hasek being named to the starting line-up by the fans, while he had barley played because of injury, and the games he DID play in, he played HORRIBLY.

I guess the only sport with no problems of this sort is the NFL, because don't broadcasters select the team for the Pro Bowl? -- or am I way off on that!? (spst: I don't pay much attention to the NFL!)

I believe in the N.F.L., although I'm not entirely sure, that it's a 3-way voting system of some kind with the media, coaches and I want to say the "fans"?

Hmm, now that I think about it, I'm not so sure. But I thought I heard that somewhere. Sorry if I'm wrong. Somebody else here could clear that up if they know how it goes there.
