I heard from somebody that in Canada, you dont have to pay for the doctor. Unlike here where you get to pay him $70 so he can give you worthless advice like staying off your leg for a while after you break it.

He he... yeah, your medical system kinda sucks down there with having to pay for every visit (I know -- someone in my family got sick while we were on vacation in Florida!). "Up here," you could go for a check-up to your family doctor every month and not pay for every visit... you make an appointment, see the doctor, and leave -- no need to bring $$$ along! :)

However, techinically, we Canadians do pay for our doctor/hospital/medical services through taxes -- it's called "public health care."... aren't all of your medical services in the states private or am I wrong on that?

Yeah and because of the Canadian systems, Canadian doctors don't do well and I know for a fact that many are moving to the U.S. to make more money.

My mom has a Canadian friend who need to go the Emergency Room for ANY ailment at all, because otherwise he'll never get through.

The system isn't privatized at all, and for many it's totall insufficient. If it were part of the open market, it would be much better.

I visited Australia over the summer and they have public health care too.

It was cool. Except they call bathrooms, toilets and garbage is rubbish. And they pronounce Adidas and aluminum very strangely.

...well, since we're talking about washrooms, etc., if you are ever stuck in France and have to go, just ask, "Le toilets, si vous please?" (that's some bad French spelling, but just assume it's written correclty!! :) )

...there's no "bathrooms" or "washrooms" in France either (like Australia)... it's "le toilets."

That's obvious, but I was referring to the quality of Australian doctors and whatnot in comparison to American ones, since they apparently also have free health care.

...it's not "free," Marc!! It's public health care made for and paid for by the public!

I understand that, but the doctors will usually be better when they are paid privately versus by public funding through taxes. I was wondering how Australia's health care compared to America's.

I didn't see any doctors while I was there.
