Bruins' Foster ineligible for Oregon game

LOS ANGELES - UCLA running back DeShaun Foster, the nation's third-leading rusher and a top Heisman Trophy candidate, has been declared ineligible for competition by the school and will miss Saturday's game against No. 7 Oregon at the Rose Bowl.

The NCAA made UCLA aware of a possible "extra benefits" violation by Foster on Tuesday, the school said Wednesday.

Foster was declared ineligible for competition, a standard procedure in "extra benefits" situations, following a meeting between athletic director Peter Dalis, a member of the NCAA enforcement staff and Foster.
Talk about a big loss. The Bruins already are average-at-best at QB, Foster was their real meat and potatoes and talent. You can pretty much count Foster out of winning the Heisman, and his team, which was once a BCS title team, now is struggling.
