Read an interesting article over at HoopsTV.com (http://www.hoopstv.com/HTVPro3419.html):

How weak is this? When reporters asked Vince Carter if he was planning on defending his Slam Dunk title during All-Star weekend in February, he said: "Probably not. A lot of people put too much emphasis on that. I'm more than just a dunker." Then he went so far as to hint that he might enter the three-point shootout instead, because he’s shooting 41 percent from behind the arc, good enough for 14th in the league.

What do you think of this? Should he give the fans what they want and do an encore, or should he focus on what's important: winning with his team and improving his game?

If he decides to try to compete again in the dunking contest, will he be the run-away winner again? And if he decides against it, who is the next best in line? Kobe's status in unknown, I believe.

Personally, I think he is just scared of not meeting people's expectations after being so spectacular last year. ;)

Well, does he have anything to lose if he does enter? If he enters and loses, so what!?

Geesh!... B-ball players (or is it just Vince) take the All-Star stuff too seriously! It's just about having fun, putting on a good show, and getting some extra cash while you're at it!!

My opinion: half chicken.

I agree : half chicken. hmmmmmmm....

<edit> Just read a report at NBATalk.com that Kobe is also opting out of the slam-dunk contest.

"I just wanna send a msg to the opposing team".

Yeah.
