(If you have not red Mike Round's latest article, click here (http://www.sports-central.org/sports/golf/articles/article59.shtml).)
A great article by Round, but I, most of all, agree with hist tenth wish for 2001:
Tiger doesn't run away with every tournament - especially the majors. It would be nice to see a good rivalry develop along the lines of Palmer and Nicklaus, Watson and Nicklaus, or Faldo and Norman. Some great duels are what the game needs. David Duval and Tiger Woods was brewing up nicely a while ago - it would be marvelous to see that one resurrected.
Well, I usually only watch the majors, and the odd round of a tournament every now and then, but I wish the same as Round on this one -- while I don't really mind Tiger running away with majors, or any events, it would be nice, and definitely much more intriguing (sp?), to see a few more repeats of the 2000 PGA Championship, wouldn't you agree!?

Well... he doesn't run away with every tournament, but I do understand what you mean.
He is challenged at times, but not by the same person which is what you are looking for. I really don't know who would be able to do that. Duval maybe, but his game is not very consistent, maybe that will change.

...actually, I would prefer that he NOT be challenged by the same person all the time... like, where did Bob May come from during the PGA Championship!? -- or Mike Weir at the 1999 PGA Championship!?
I hope Duval can get his game and his health back for 2001... he really struggled last year.
...I know he doesn't run away with every tournament, but he prepares so that he's "at the the top of his game for the majors," which, again, is usually all I watch, so at those times, he usually just runs away with the tournament, if you can call it that!

Yes, I skimmed through the article and I did like it !:) Some very nice points.
It would be very nice to see some exciting, nerve wrecking, tournaments this season. Though when I think of golf I can't help but have Payne Stewart pop in my head and think about how much of a loss it has been. He was such a good person.
I'm not sure if Tiger could repeat what he did last year but it would be amazing to see. I would just like to see him get to a point where he is comfortable with his game but I dont think thats possible.

I don't think that's possible for ANYONE in the sport. Unlike basketball, football, baseball, or hockey, you don't have teammates to bail you out if you get into a slump -- everyone has to perform at 100%... or at least 1% better than the guys above him on the leader board... they are competing not only for their income this year, but a job for next year, too!

I agree, Lee.
If your a pro, or even me, or an amateur lol you can never be comfortable with your game. I think you always have to have that hunger to get better at whatever you do, the moment you get comfortable is possibly the moment you need to consider hanging it up. :)

hm, I would tend to disagree. When I say comfortable, I mean I would like to see him get to a point where he is shooting consistently low scores. Obviously for the pro's they will never be happy with their games because they don't have the number one spot and that's whats driving them. But people who play can get to a point where they are "comfortable" with their game. Noone is going to play a perfect game a golf, as noone is going to play a perfect game of anything. But I do believe there is a level of play where people can say..for the most part they are satisified with their performance.
Yes Rick, I believe he does. :)
