Who's everyone's pick for the most underrated player in the N.B.A.?
My pick is Shareef Abdur-Rahim of the Vancouver Grizzlies. He's just obscure up in the deep northwest, out of the U.S., but he's just a scoring machine. He's just so fluid. He's really what I would call a small forward (even though from what I can tell in the recent box scores, he's playing power forward because the Grizzlies have been playing a 3-guard rotation) but he can even spot some minutes at power forward as well.
I agree, Spike - Reef is waaaaaaaaay under-estimated and he's a dangerous player at SF.
Jermaine O'Neal is one player who pops up to mind - he has quietly garnered 13.6ppg/9.7rpg in Indiana after being traded from Portland. He's proved to be a worthy fill in for Dale Davis.
Underrated? I'd have to say Jamal Mashburn (okay, so I may be a little biased here, if you know me, but hey, he's averaging 20 points per game and is leading Charlotte, one of the most surprising teams in the league this year). :)

Yeah that's a good pick. I like Jermaine O'Neal as well. I got a chance to see him play last Friday when the Pacers were at Sacramento and O'Neal showed me some stuff I hadn't seen before when he was in Portland. I don't know if it was because he didn't get as much of an opportunity with the Blazers or if he's just really worked on his game this past Summer but I saw O'Neal with a good post up game, with a hook shot. I saw him drive to the hoop. He even had a nice finger roll in the game. Add to that, a sheer athleticism that allows him to just crash the boards before anybody else and block shots and yeah he's a very nice player.
Too bad for Portland, they couldn't keep him because I'd rather have him than Shawn Kemp and I remember when Jermaine got to spot some minutes at Center against Shaq in last year's Western Conference Finals, he bothered Shaq a little, kind of like a little nat.

i think the most underated player in the NBA is definetly Antonio Davis. he'z only 6'9 and because the raptors don't have a true center, he has to play center and when he does that he averages around 12 points and 10.7 rebounds. When Davis was injured for a couple games the raptorz lost.

Another one of my picks for most underrated player in the league is Antonio McDyess. He's a pretty athletic power forward. And he's still pretty young so I think he's only going to get better. But he plays in Denver which isn't that good of a team and isn't that well known.
McDyess played for the Suns one year too. I wonder if regrets not re-signing with them. They're a much better team than Denver and they run the floor a lot which really fits his athleticism and ability to run the floor well.
True, he was another player who got stuck on a terrible team and he never got any recognition, attention, or really a chance to showcase his talents.
