Where do they come from!... Wherever they do, though, they're tearing up the league!!!... just look at this year's list:

Roman Checkmanik (Philadelphia)
Evgeni Nabokov (San Jose)
Brent Johnson (St. Louis)
Marty Turco (Dallas)

...sure, for every one awesome goalie, there's 2 or 3 terrible ones, but face the facts: that's quite a lot of really good rookie goalies for their first season in the league.

...BTW, how did Philly get two really good rookie goalies? Last year, it was Brian Boucher, and this year he sucks, but rookie Checkmanik is playing awesome!

How do you think these new goalies will fare last year? -- the same fate as Boucher, or will they continue to play awesome, even when the forwards from opposition teams learn their weak spots?

Mabye it was cause Broucher had the Beezer teaching and all those stuff but look at Cechmanek no one except for Broucher so mabye he might have some talent. But i'm not saying all rookies who get help from vetrens becomes a superstar but they do learn some. Like Turco's got Belfour, and Nabokov's got shields but Johnson only gots Turek who still hasn't exactly proved himself except for last year. Also Lee u forgot Manny Fernandez. He is kind of good.

...you made some good points, Peck.

Yes, I did forget Manny Fernandez, who led the Wild to an 8-game unbeaten streak that ended last week.

Hello boys ! Did somebody forget Jose Theodore (Mtl)
Last week a shot-out & and scored a goal.
But you boys are right about goalies being hot rookies.
No wonder that not so manny goals are scored. Thought the worst par of the goalies is there second year in the league. That's were you seperate the boys from the man .

...no.. we didn't really "forget" Theodore... he's not a rookie this year, is he!?... Yeah, that was quite awesome how he got a shutout AND a goal in the same game. He did that on January 2nd, 2001, and you know when the last time that happened was? -- Janauary 2nd, 1999 (Damian Rhodes, OTT)... now that's freaky!!!

Actually, goals have been up the past few years due to the removal of the "crease" rule, but we'll see at the end of this season where that stands. and, you're right, the 2nd year is where the "boys are separated form the men."
