Do we have any wrestling fans here?
World Championship Wrestling was recently bought and is now lead by new President Eric Bischoff. WCW, which you probably know, is losing like $60 million per year and is doing horribly - let's hope Bischoff, who was responsible for the famous "nWo" angle, can help turn WCW around.
Post your thoughts on wrestling here.

No... not a wrestling fan.
But about WCW, I believe I heard Time Warner (AOL Time Warner) dropped WCW and sold them because they lost $80 million dollars. I wonder how the new ownership will be able to profit or even if they will ever profit. :)

I used to follow WWF a little but I don't have time to watch it on a regular basis and it seems so fake to me.

I watch wrestling somewhat.
I watch the W.W.F. though, not the W.C.W. I say "somewhat" because I haven't been into it as much lately because the story scripts in the W.W.F. have been kind of sucky lately (Vince is probably too concerned with the X.F.L. debut right now) so I've missed the last few shows.

THANK YOU for pointing out that the WWF is scripted... anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete idiot... do they think that the arena knows exactly when to play The Rock music or any type of special effects or music by COINCIDENCE!?!????!!!?!?!?
...now what bothers me the most is that the WWF is on EVERY SINGLE Canadian sports network, even though anyone I've EVER talked to does not consider a sport -- "sports ENTERTAINMENT"... it's not a sport... Olympic-style wrestling should be moved up from "amateur" to "professional" status, because I see absolutely nothing professional about the way the WWF handles itself.

I agree. Some of my friends can tell the results of matches months in advance. They say, oh well in this Pay-Per-View event, this guy will have to face this guy and so and so will win. 3 months later, it happens.

Which is going to bring in higher ratings and revenue for those Canadian sports networks? The WWF, which is one of the most popular and highest-rated cable shows on television or amateur wrestling? The answer is simple, and the networks are obviously going to go where the money is.
I wouldn't doubt every wrestling fan knows wrestling is completely fake, but it's how the stuff happens, the exciting matches that are sometimes put on, and the soap opera effect that has made wrestling as popular as it is today.

I agree with everything you said, Lee but I was just curious who thinks the W.W.F. isn't scripted? Vince McMahon, his family, and his wrestlers have done various interviews where they freely say everything is scripted. In fact, a few months ago there was an article in the T.V. Guide about it where one of their reporters talked to McMahon and he bascially said that scripts are planned 3 or 4 months in advance with backup scripts that can be used, accounting for injuries that happen from now till then. If anybody thinks the W.W.F. isn't scripted at least in some way, those people have been sticking their heads in the sand for a quite a bit.

I just so happen to like wrestling. Well, the WWF I like. I do not like WCW.
Yes it's fake, but it's supposed to be..It's pure sports entertainment!!
However, some of these moves that some of the wrestlers actually do are pretty amazing. For one , the Hardy Boys of the WWF. Some of the moves they do are incredible. That's why I watch it...Simply entertainment!!! Take it for what it is..
