Congrats to both of them. Winfield really deserved it and I suppose Puckett did too.
I am a little sad that Donnie Baseball will never be able to get in. He is my favorite player of all time... but, he just didn't last long enough I guess. :(

I think Puckett was a big question mark in my mind because his career was cut short. He is still a good choice though.

I think seeing both Dave Winfield & Kirby Puckett elected to the hall this year was well deserved. My question is why Gary Carter was not included. Looking at his stats alone is enough to put him in the hall. Hopefully next year Gary, you belong there also.

I forgot to say that I really think Mattingly should be in the hall. When I was little, I used to buy all his baseball cards. If Puckett made it in, I see no reason for him not to be. He is my favorite Yankee of recent years. Didn't the Yankees have McGriff in the minors but let him go because of Mattingly? He was a great player until those injuries.

Yes, they did let the Crime Dog go... I don't think McGriff is that great anyway... he is good though. Donnie is my favorite baseball player ever. But, his stats do pale in comparison to Puckett's. I'm afraid he will never be voted in, but I would absolutely love to see it.
