Who do you think will win this tourney ?
I would like to see Mickelson take it, as I'm starting to feel bad for him. Maybe Matt Kuchar ? Or Mike Weir?
I think it'll be a good week of golf!

For the very casual golf followers - when is this going to be played? I guess I'm pulling for Tiger so he can kick off another good year.

Uhhh... same as any other tournament -- Thursday to Sunday.
NBC is marketing this as "the strongest field in golf," and rightfully so -- 48 out of the Top50 golfers are going to be there (now, I forget if that's Top50 in the world, or Top50 on the money list). This is up there as one of my fav tournaments. The Players Championship, for me, is right up there with my other favs -- the US Open and WGC Stroke Play.
Tiger 3-peated at Bay Hill last week.... I think he's got a great chance of 3-peating this week at the TPC at the TPC at Sawgr**** and if he in fact does that.. I say, go with the trends and predict a repeat of the Masters :D
I don't think Mickelson will make a run this week and I really hope Mike Weir can put 4 solid rounds together.... he never seems to do that.. last week he had the 54-hold lead but didn't do anything good on Sunday. I hope he puts together four 70-or-better rounds so that he's on good footing going into the Masters, but I don't think he'll take it this week (hope I'm wrong though ;) ) .

I don't remember Mickelson having a 54 hole lead, if anything he had the lead after 62 or 63 holes. Tiger finished 10 under after 54 holes and held the lead with McCarron or something like that. Mickelson lead in the middle somewhere but crumbled, as usual, towards the end and ended up 8 under or something.
I watched a little bit of this today, and like Lee said, it is one of the best tournaments, as it is played on a challenging course with most of the top players in the world. Most call it the 'unofficial' 5th Major. There is probably 3 or 4 strokes that separates the top 30 or 40 players, with the leader at -5 and Tiger at -1. Most still have a few holes to play though, because of delayed play early this morning due to rain.
I think Saturday and Sunday will be some great days of golf! mmm whadya know! It's snowing here!

I didn't say Mickelson had a 54-hold lead did I ? ...or were you referring to something else?
Anywho -- play was suspended earlier today after it being delayed at the start for 2 hours due to rain.

The only tournament you mentioned in the post above mine was the Bay Hill, I didn't think it was wrong of me to assume we were talking about the same golf course in your next paragraph. Seeing as Weir didn't play in the Bay Hill and Mickelson did, it was implied that mickelson held the lead after 54 holds.
If it was Weir you were talking about, maybe you should have been clearer by mentioning the tourney he played in because I wasn't aware he was playing last week.

Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking of another tournament earlier in the year (the one before Bay Hill, I think) when Mike Weir had a 3-round lead . . . got my weeks mixed up, sorry :)
Anywho.... 2nd round action was suspended again due to darkness resulting from the delays in the first round. Currently, Paulson is the 2nd-round clubhouse leader with a few players still incomplete and the cut still undecided.

what a tournament. I have never ever seen such up and down play from these guys. That course must have been one very tough course. I'm glad Perks ended up winning it and at 8 under. That was one of the better tournaments I've seen in the long way. During the week so many players were in contention, so many had their names at the top or near the top of the leaderboard!
Mickelson with his 5 putt, Weir in the water on 16 and 17 when he was so close, Tiger not able to sink many putts!
It was a good tourney!
